"We are fucked."
Unexpectedly these words came from Jean. Cursing out loud as she saw the grotesque visage of the Creature.
Four eerie crimson eyes, and terrifying mandibles that dripped with thirst for flesh.
All over its body were deep gashes and deep holes, gauging into its body to reveal the mangled and decaying flesh beneath it. All soiled with sticky revolting green liquid. Wounds from blades, guns and other sort of Weapon that had claimed its life before it seemed. But the bastard had been brought back to life.
By this time Flynn had also turned back to glance at the Creature upon hearing Jean's curse. And to be honest, surprise was an understatement.
The sight was extremely revolting. The Zombified Spider it seemed was just two meters in height, its head which included his dripping mandibles with green liquid that caused a hissing sound as it dropped on the ground. The Spider Creature had been dealt so much damage than one would to a lab rat.
Apart from the decaying flesh from the wounds that had been dealt to almost every path of its body, three of its legs had been severed. Mostly, the two front most tibia that would have made it more dangerous to deal with had been severed, cleanly severed that both sides of its mouth revealed missing flesh, decaying.
The remaining of his legs however, were still much of a threat, but without being able to observe them due to how fast they moved, he only had an imagination of how deadly they would be. Witnessing them pierce through the wall as the Spider scurried into the passage while seeming to avoid the flames.
But the next instant…
SHRIEK!!
It wasn't a screech this time but a shriek.
Behind them, the legs of Spider had been set aflames by the eerie emerald blurb of flame floating by the corridor.
And that was when he saw what the flame did, not only him but everyone in the group had also turned back to glance at the Spider's shriek.
Starting from its legs, the other parts of its body were also set up in flame the next instant like a piece soaked in petroleum.
And that was when they heard Screech again.
SCREEEEECHHHHH!
Much more terrifying than it was previously, the ground trembled like a subtle earthquake.
"Run Faster!"
Following Riker's shout they realized what the screech meant, refocusing on their speed, the corridor continued trembling.
This time time the journey through the corridor that had taken them fifteen minutes to go through had been covered in what seemed to be less than three minutes or more.
Soon enough they were back to the cave passageway, without finely placed bricks to cover the bare stones and no strange phenomenon of floating flames…
Bang!
A moment later, the next instance after the group ran out, another shriek was let out, and the spider, now a burnt offering and on what seemed to be its last leg, got out of the corridor and spitted… IT wasn't exactly spitted, more like it shot out a blurb of liquid or silk at the escaping group who had almost been its dinner.
"Haaaa!"
A terrified scream came afterwards followed by a splattering sound as those that been lucky to avoid the unexpected last ditch of the Spider glanced to see the companion they had lost.
But somebody didn't stop…
Meanwhile the rest, having stopped, heard a screeching sound. And then WHOOSH !
A swift gust of wind had been swept in their face before they knew it.
Perhaps his aim might have been off because he didn't readily set it. But Flynn didn't care, trusting the sense of familiarity while holding the Silver Spear he threw it with all his might. Talking about might, at the same time, he felt his passive Will, [Defiance] being triggered as a wobble feeling, a blurb of force was added to his arm before the snap of his wrist came off.
While succumbing to its death, the burnt Spider with now one leg, screeched wanting to shoot out the acidic fluid…
But a moment later, the whooshing sound arrived and broke several of its mandibles. Thrusting deep inside its guts, a bent silver Spear pierced through the other side of its head, revealing its tip before melting.
To this, the group watched gobsmacked as the Spider collapsed dead.
As for Flynn he felt a series of information transferred inside his mind.
[Defying Instance Attained.] It read.
Not giving him time to ponder it, he felt a series of stares focus on him.
There was silence for a moment except for the blurbing flesh of Angella under the acidic influence.
Indeed the unlucky one had been Angella.
"Was that Critical?" Voicing with shock, Ryker said with an exaggerated look of shock. Followed by the rest of the group who couldn't stop staring.
Remembering the terrified feeling the Spider gave off they thought of the Zombie Beetle which had been a Vile Creature that they could conveniently take on with numbers. Compared to the Zombie Spider, they would have probably died to its ability to spit acid before they could deal any significant damage. Among Creatures of the Vicious Rank, it was certainly on the stronger side. And to think that the laconic youth would be able to deal such damage to a Creature comparable to a Count…
"Laconic people these days…" Ryker couldn't help but brush off silently while glancing at his twin brother who ignored his stare, before walking to the remains of Angella.
By now, every part of her body had been turned into liquid, nothing of her previous fracture jcould be traced.
After a moment of silence to pay respect to the dead girl, Amelia walked towards Flynn who was staring strangely at his arm.
'Just now…' tracing off into his thoughts he tried to think of that feeling he felt.
'Dude you're a cheat.' Amelia spoke in his mind while her left out eyes observed incredulously.
To this, though Flynn wanted to respond he wasn't a fan of talking much. Back there he had seen her use her power. Her pupils vanished as her eyes turned completely black. Following that the Spider halted its screech.
A Will to stop a person was literally the same as killing them in combat, a slight pause in movement was enough. If anything could there be anymore more death code than that. Literally being against her was death.
Whose Will was truly cheat wasn't something they could argue about.
To the side…
"Hey guys shouldn't we end this thing before it revives?"
