CH: 91 Licker Attack

[Chapter: 91 Licker Attack]

---

William naturally knew what was in this church: Lickers. The Lickers were more powerful than zombies. They were fast and powerful, but they were also more disgusting than zombies.

The Lickers were an unstable experimental creation that involved directly injecting the T-virus into a living body, making them one of the early experimental subjects of the Hive. During the cultivation stage, they were directly fed living DNA.

Jill nodded toward Peyton and walked deeper into the church.

William had nothing to worry about. If Jill could die so easily, she wouldn't be Jill.

Terry was nervous. "It should be all OK, right?"

"It's okay. Don't be nervous, just sit down," William said, sitting in a church chair.

Terry nodded and sat down. "William, you don't seem nervous at all."

William's eyes deepened as he looked at the statue in front of him. Pretending to be someone who had gone through a lot, he said, "Because I know, whether I'm nervous or not, what should happen will happen. The only thing I can do about it is calmly face it. I live without regret."

"You're in a good state of mind," Terry said with a hint of approval and admiration.

"When I hunted before, I often encountered all kinds of dangerous beasts. But not one of them could pose any danger to me."

"Hmm. You know you are strong; not many can do what you do," Terry replied.

"Really? If you praise me like this, I'll get really embarrassed, you know." William couldn't help but smile.

Terry laughed. "William, thank you for taking my mind off things."

William smiled. "Hey, if you want to thank me, then survive and live." Then we can go to my world, and you can become mine, William thought, though he kept the latter part to himself.

"Well, then I'll be counting on you." Terry waved her fist.

"I'll be sure to protect you, so stay by my side, OK?" William said, looking into her eyes.

Terry felt the look in William's eyes, her heartbeat accelerating unconsciously. Her eyes shifted aside as she whispered, "I... I'll believe in you."

Peyton snorted dismissively. "Look at the situation we're in, and you're still flirting."

"Why? You jealous because you don't have anyone?" William's temper flared slightly. He didn't kill this man only because he was friends with Jill and was going to die soon anyway. But this guy was really pushing his luck.

"Boy, do you want to fight?" Peyton said, standing up. "I can fight ten of you."

William shook his head and said one word: "Stupid."

"Boy, there's no one to stop me from killing you now. You better be careful," Peyton said, with a hint of threat in his tone.

"William, don't say anything," Terry said, a little worried.

William smiled. "Alright, I'll listen to you." Then—

"Ah," a painful voice echoed.

William shook his head. It seemed the priest had been bitten by his sister. The priest's sister was infected with the virus. He had tied her up and fed her dead bodies.

Terry immediately became nervous. "What happened? Hey, William, let's leave here." She glanced at the door, wanting to leave.

William grabbed Terry's hand. "It's okay. I'm here. Nothing will happen. Believe me."

Terry's nervous, cold hands felt the warmth of William's. Slowly calming down, with a hint of red on her cheeks, she whispered, "You... you can let go now."

"Oh, okay." William let go.

"I'm leaving here," said the dragon man, running toward the door and opening it.

"Roar!" came the sound of roaring, and the hands of zombies reached in.

"Ah!" The man screamed in fright, slamming the door shut. "Come and help me close the door!"

Peyton hurriedly ran over and jammed the door. "What are you standing there for? Come and close the door!"

"Oh, oh!" Terry rushed to help.

"I'll come too." William kicked the door hard, slamming it shut. The door didn't budge afterward; only the sound of knocking was heard.

Peyton froze. When he held the door earlier, he had felt the zombies' immense strength. That's why he needed everyone's help. But this kid had closed it with just one kick.

"Plug the boards on the door," William said casually.

The fourth man picked up a wooden board from the ground, inserted it into the door bolt, and sighed in relief. "I almost died."

"Time is of the essence," William muttered, stepping aside.

A roar came from the roof, and something darted across it.

"What's that?" cried the dragon man.

Peyton and Terry both looked up. A flesh-red monster was moving quickly—it was a Licker.

Terry instinctively stood behind William, turned on her camera, and filmed the moving Licker.

"I can't take it anymore!" the dragon man shouted, running toward the church's exit.

"Come back!" Peyton called after him.

In less than a minute, the man's screams echoed. Needless to say, he was dead.
