Hand in hand, they traversed the large park, crossing bridges and ducking over low-hanging branches. A smile had materialised on Macy's face. Priscilla, however, continued thinking about what the key could be. She pictured a normal cast iron key, but that would be far too simple. Based on the information at her disposal, it was clear it would be something slightly blue, large but not too large so that it couldn't fit into one of those containers.
'Priscilla! Look, it's the playground!' The little girl pointed at the little city of plastic monuments that little kids ran across. Sure enough, a group of girls were laughing like maniacs and terrorising other little children. 'Y-You are hurting my hand.' Macy tried pulling away from Priscilla's hand.
'I'm sorry Macy, just felt a bit angry.'
'That's okie! Everyone feels angry at times.' She patted Priscilla's arm. A sweet smile breaking the melancholic frown.
The gates creaked open, and no one batted an eye at their entrance. No parents were in sight, just empty benches and strollers left unattended. If this were real life, thieves would've stolen everything already. But this trial was carefully curated with only one goal in mind. Macy pointed through one of the small structures to the girls terrorising a little boy.
'What's going on here?' Priscilla crossed her arms, standing high above them to assert dominance.
'Huh? Who are you?' In a bitchy tone one of the girls asked.
A vein popped across Priscilla's forehead. 'You don't need to know that. Now, why are you terrorising this boy?'
The little boy took the chance to flee, leaving his shoes behind in the puddle of water. She plucked the shoes from the water, placing them on top of the fence to dry out, eventually the boy would have to come back for his shoes.
'You just ruined our fun you hag. Now you will take his place! And ohh you brought back one of our playthings! How fun.' The girls clapped in unison. Macy began trembling behind Priscilla's protection, her feet were telling her to run and never to look back...but that would be betraying Priscilla's goodwill.
'Surely you don't think you could bully me. You are half my age at least. Hahaha!' Priscilla wiped away a fake tear, taunting the queen bees.
Tendrils of darkness rose from nearby shadows, grabbing onto Priscilla's arm. The centre girl controlling each movement, pulled Priscilla against the plastic structure. A girl dressed in violet pulled out an impossibly large cleaver, holding it high above Macy's arm.
'NO!' A wave of magical power surged from her free arm, throwing the cleaver across the river bank. Frustration crossed her face before pulling out a small thin needle, injecting it slowly into Macy's cheek. 'AHHHHH' Screams followed by a chorus of laughter, Priscilla's eyes struggled to close, forcing a nightmarish scene to take place.
Priscilla cursed herself for not bringing the wand along, she chomped on her lip as hard as she could, the scissors forming into her hand to cut the vines. She dashed forward snapping the needle in half and scarring the violet girl with a single slash, blood trickling across her face slowly. A singular dash was all it took to close the distance once more, there was no room to run, a final cut lobbing off the head, a fountain of darkness spewed into the sky.
'I figured you guys weren't human to begin with. No one would behave like this just cause.' Her face was cast into the shadow, her blades unclicking to form two separate blades. The remaining two girls shifted into a more demonic form, two horns sticking from their heads and growing three times Priscilla's height.
'This should be fun.' She stretched her arms getting ready to dash in, large vines erupted from the ground, narrowingly missing her. Each swipe cut through pieces of plastic as she manoeuvred through the little castle, eyes set on the one with blond hair she threw one of the blades into the large red eye. A large leap placed her atop her head, a second blade jammed through her skull and clicking into the first pieces. 'Snip Snip Bitch.'
The large body hit the ground, shaking the nearby trees. The last one ran through the metal gates leaving them in shambles. But despite how fast a demon could run, they were no match for Priscilla. The right tendon sliced apart sent her tumbling into the nearby river.
'I have no wand but...I need to keep her under the water.' She ran to a nearby tree, her eyes closing, magical power wrapping around the base of the tree. The wood creaked in agony as the roots severed from the ground, the impact of the tree into the water forcing a bit of rain to fall from the sky.
Blood trickled from her cheek. 'Huh, what is this?' Her body fell to the floor, narrowingly dodging the large cleaver that swung past her. The previous demon had shifted its form, and Priscilla cursed under her breath, one more to go. A head rolled across the path, and a lump was growing in her throat upon closer inspection. 'Why would you do this? You have nothing to gain from killing her!'
The demon spoke in a deep guttural voice, unable to be deciphered by human ears, before bursting into laughter. Regret welled in her chest, but it didn't stop her from decapitating the demon. A second head fell onto the floor, a blue crystal tear sitting just inside of the stub. With this, she had gotten the first key but had lost something in the process.
Her form emerged from the poster, and she placed the key into the container. She tried holding back the tears, but with every breath, it became harder. Priscilla shifted toward the second poster, a yellow frame decorating the wintery landscape of the next portal she had to step through. A loud scream echoed through the hallways of the theatre, the only other person here was not capable of being harmed by Priscilla, so being angry sent shivers down her spine.
The world shifted into the icy planes of Alaska, icy infested winds dug into her soft skin, the cold air biting her bare legs. A nearby cabin illuminated the darkness.
'Let's hope the owner is friendly...'
