Knights and Guardians II

"How did an Igna guardian manifest? There isn't enough magicules in the air, this most likely means there was a source. Which must've been why the Earth Guardian woke up." The Captain said in surprise as he was stargazing at the Phoenix. Entrapped by its ethereal beauty. "The Colossal must've been angry because of the Igna Guardian."

"Sir the Flamma Elixir is being burnt away by the Phoenix's heat. We won't be able to last much longer like this." The second in command said as he stepped back. "We should circle the Colossal's back with the winged-horses."

Suddenly the flames turned green, the Phoenix was empyreal, no human could ever think of killing this being after witnessing them for the first time. Though, there are some who can afford to just admire.

Another thunderous roar filled the area, the burns on the colossal back may not do much physical damage, it is feeling the pain.

"No, this isn't an Igna Guardian…" The captain said as a barrier surrounded his body and he cotinued to observered the Phoenix. "It didn't invade the Colossal's territory. It was summoned but by who?" The Phoenix turned its head to their direction with no pupils in its eyes, they were unsure if the monster was looking at them or not.

"Sir Hercht!" The second in command said as he nudged his shoulder.

*SCRIIEEEE* The Phoenix let out a rumbling cry matching the Colossal's constant roaring. An intense shockwave was released as it folded its wings, forcing the recon soldiers off of the Colossal along with their horses.

As they fell, the green flames began to spread all over the back of the Colossal, its next roar seeming to be more of a signal for the Goliaths as they get closer to the Colossal.

Although the fire was spreading, they weren't burning; instead the trees, grass, and monsters were withering away as if their very souls were set aflame. As everything burned away, the Colossal seemed to be staggering back and forth.

The Goliath stood against its feet to be absorbed by the Colossal while two other Goliaths climbed its body to reach the Phoenix.

"The Colossal is angered. We can't observe it on foot so we'll continue to watch from the sky, someone must've brought it here. This is far from its natural habitat." Captain Hercht said as the horses finally woke up and sprouted their wings, saving the soldiers from falling to their deaths.

"What the hell, the Colossal is absorbing the Goliaths." The second in command said as he looked down.

"I can see… it must've taken damage…" The Captain said as he looked towards the center of the forest. As he did, his eyes began to glisten with mana as he observed the flame magicules in the area. "Green flames? Those flames can only belong to one beast. It's an ancient summon."

*SCRYYEEEEE* The Phoenix let out another cry as it perched itself on top of my body.

I can feel my body regaining its warmth and sense of touch. The mind numbing pain is also dissipating ever so quickly. "Successor to the Great flame, awaken." A voice as soft as a pillow and as sincere as a saint spoke to me. "I bequeath you, the flame of my heart. I grant unto you the arsenal to burn it all away. Until you can embrace the flame, you need only call for me. " It felt as if I was being coddled like a newborn baby.

Although I cannot see, I can feel the mana I put into the air begin to come back to me as if I was a vacuum. There was so much rushing in at such a high rate that I felt my core expand as if it was a balloon. Sending a surge of energy through my body as I consumed all of the mana, the green flames in the area began to move towards me, as if they were simply sliding along the ground.

The flames sat on my body and with a gust of wind the trees, greenery, even the bugs and animals who failed to escape or resisted the initial shockwave were turned to ash and blown away, leaving the back of the Colossal's back barren as if the beauty was just erased.

I could feel the warmth return to the wounded areas as they healed and the blood on my body vaporizing as I finally started to open my eyes.

I could see the large bird covered in beautifully vibrant green flames, looking as majestic as if I was staring at heaven's light. "Felicie.." I reached for it, hoping to at least hold and feel the bird with my own two hands. However it's body suddenly dispersed into particles of magicules.

"Successor, we are now the flame. Until you embrace it, I shall forever belong at your side." Their voice as calming as the presence of my lover, I watched as their mana flowed into my body; however it was as if there was a brighter core wrapping around my own. The incantation in my grimoire shortened.

Leaving me on the ground, I stood up. *Thdoom* i felt monstrous stomps as if there was a giant walking towards me so I got up immediately not know what type of monster could be heading towards me, I prepared myself nonetheless.

"Wait those are-" Before I could even finish that thought, it was as if I could sense mana moving through the ground beneath me. *Crack* without moving out of the way, as I did, the ground began to crack. Just a second later, a javelin-like boulder was shot out of the ground. "Oh shit.." Airon said as he felt another crack open up under him.

I dived away from it, as another spear like stone shot out from the crack, it was able to scratch the heel of my feet.

"Shit." I let out as I backed away from that attack. *Thub* I backed into something hard like, it was different from wood.

As I turned around, there was a large stone wall in front of me "Was this always here?" I thought before I looked up.

It was the monsters from before, the monsters camouflaging as hills, reaching bigger heights than the skyscrapers in my world. I can't even see the end of its feet, I can already tell that I was not ready to fight this monster. Suddenly the monster lifted its feet quickly, almost as if it weighed just as much as me, it took me nearly a second to realize it's moving.

It's foot raised higher than head, its entire foot seemed to be as big as an entire street block, the only way I can escape is by running away so far enough to get out of its path.

As I got away from them, just as I tried to run away the monster stumped its feet, sending an aggressive gust of wind that was strong enough to push me off my feet.

It pushed me a couple meters away, thankfully. I was able to pick myself up quickly, however I was overshadowed. And it was as if the moon was falling- there was another monster who was going to crush me under its foot.

It was as if a spell in my grimoire was glowing- calling to me. As I spoke the incantation for the spell "Mater Flamma." Wings that were made of red light formed at my ankles .

"What?" I let out, thinking the Phoenix was going to appear again. "Run." However I heard their voice again and without even thinking I trusted those words and ran.

"Our contract is now signed. May I serve you forevermore. Oh dear Airon, student of the flames embrace it all." I felt the Pheonix's voice caress my ears.

With every step I felt the wings fluttering, giving me a sort of boost. It was just a couple of steps but I was able to cover enough distance to escape the monster's foot. Even slowing down the wings flutters backwards to stop me.

"As of the moment I cannot see where I'm going while running like this but I hope you can guide me to the edge." I thought as the monster raised its hind leg to try and crush me again.

The moment it lifted its foot, I ran beneath it. Speeding through, I kept running until I felt the ground disappear.

"Shit. Shit. I forgot." I said as I ran off the mountainous-monster, realizing I was going to be free falling to my death.

Then a knight who was riding a horse with wings was flying beside me.

"Captain, our order was too-." Another knight appeared as the other grabbed on to my arm.

"We can't leave him to die." The Captain said as he pulled me onto the back of his horse.

"Who are you?" I asked as I held onto a handle behind him.

"We're just small mercenaries passing by. what are you doing on top of a Colossal Guardian?" The Captain asked as the horse was flying towards the ground.

"I was hunting monsters." I told them bluntly although I felt uneasy about this entire situation.

"After all, it was all too perfect for them to save me out of the blue like that. They must've been watching but for how long, I never even sensed them not even a little. I definitely need to improve."

As Airon had those thoughts about the suspicious group of "mercenaries", they were also wary of him.
