After removing the bridal gown, my father reluctantly broke the silence. "Don't you think you should meet Isaac Jules? The wedding is tomorrow, after all. It seems odd for you two to tie the knot without ever having met, don't you agree?"
I paused briefly before turning down his well-intentioned suggestion. "Thanks, but I'll pass. I trust your judgment, Dad."
Noticing my dampened spirits, Mom exchanged a look with Dad, silently urging him to let it go. Just as we were about to drive off, Aunt Mina called unexpectedly. "Ellie, have you informed Lucas of your return? He doesn't appear concerned at all."
"I spotted him escorting that little minx upstairs. I was tempted to lash out at her!" she added.
