Suddenly recalling something, I hastened to intervene. "Don't worry! It's probably because the gown was too pricey and might be misleading. Or perhaps some people are just jealous of the affluent. It's okay; if it's taken down, so be it."

I picked up my mother's phone to check. As expected, it was Lucas' Facebook page. Just then, my phone buzzed. To prevent my parents from becoming concerned, I calmly retreated to my room to answer.

"Ellie, what were you doing at the bridal boutique? Who told you to try on wedding dresses? Were you alone?" Lucas fired off questions rapidly.

"I told you to come back—don't you understand? I've been waiting here forever. Don't test my patience!"
