"Denise! Have you lost your mind? How dare you speak ill of your in-laws like that? I can't fathom your cruelty! They've done so much for you, and now you're abandoning them as you divorce their son?"
Debbie's voice was harsh, but I merely glanced at her before turning my attention to Anthony.
His face contorted with rage. "Denise, haven't you put on enough of a show tonight?" he growled.
I remained composed, looking directly into his eyes as I repeated my question, "Are you coming or not?"
That was the final straw. Anthony's anger erupted. He pushed me forcefully, shouting, "You've gone mad, Denise! If you're unwell, seek help and stop having breakdowns in front of me!"
I didn't fight back. What would it accomplish? He was mourning his parents, not me. How could I argue with someone who had just lost both parents?
"I've informed you," I stated calmly. "I'll adhere to the divorce agreement regarding asset division. We'll finalize the divorce at the Family Court in a week."
