Behind my veil, I observed his astonishment.

Paula nudged him with her elbow, muttering suspiciously, "Jason, what's the matter?"

He dismissed it with a shake of his head. "It's nothing. I just imagined... she resembled Hailey."

At the mention of my name, Paula's fist tightened involuntarily. But Jason merely chuckled.

"That's ridiculous. Given how much Hailey adores me, she'd never deceive me by secretly marrying someone else."

From the driver's seat, my father impatiently sounded the horn and grumbled. "That troublemaker still dares to obstruct my path? If it weren't for this special day, I'd teach him a lesson!"

I gently smiled beneath my veil.

In the past, I had fled to avoid a prearranged union. I believed I had discovered true love with Jason—a man who offered me everything despite having little himself.
