As our vehicle halted at an intersection, Sebastian Moore, the son of the Moore family, was seated next to me. His eyes met mine, and he remained quiet, seemingly deep in contemplation. Suddenly, he pulled me close, his embrace firm and unyielding.
"You've taken your marriage vows now," Sebastian remarked, his low voice carrying a note of caution. "Are your thoughts still lingering on that individual?"
His arm around my middle felt simultaneously reassuring and constricting. I pushed him away forcefully.
"Not at all," I responded curtly. "My thoughts of him have ceased. I'm nothing more than an unfamiliar face to him now."
Sebastian's intense gaze scrutinized my expression, searching for any hint of uncertainty. Apparently content with what he saw, he reclined in his seat, his tone softening but retaining a hint of victory. "That's for the best."
