A Trip to another world

Chapter 18

The next day arrived, marking an emotional moment as Grey's mother prepared to leave for her trip. They hugged and shed tears multiple times before Clara finally departed.

Once she was gone, Grey returned to their small house, lying on his bed as a wave of loneliness washed over him.

"Grow up, Grey. She'll be back soon," he muttered to himself, shaking off the emotions. "I need to focus on the task at hand."

A small smile formed on his lips. "Lady Luck really blessed me with this opportunity. I didn't even have to come up with an excuse for leaving."

With renewed determination, Grey packed a few clothes into his small bag and locked the house behind him. He rummaged through his pocket, listening to the soft jingle of five silver coins.

"Alright, let's see… Clothes? Check. Money? Check. Spell books? Check. Earth dagger? Check." He went through his belongings one last time. "Alright, seems everything is here and I'm not forgetting anything. I wi just have to head off to the forest to start my travels." He said as he steadily jogged towards the forest where his hideout was kept.

He began jogging toward his hidden hideout, occasionally propelling himself forward with wind magic to speed up the journey.

"It'd be faster if I flew outright, but that'd draw too much attention," he mused while maintaining his pace.

After ten minutes, he reached the forest. Without hesitation, he cast a wind spell, lifting himself off the ground and propelling forward like a rocket.

'This magic is really handy.'

Soon, he arrived at the cave, his secret hideout. Scanning the surroundings to ensure no one was watching, he approached a particular spot, inputted his mana, and watched as a concealed entrance in the cave wall shifted open. He stepped inside, and the entrance sealed shut behind him.

A satisfied grin crossed his face as he looked around. He quickly grabbed three pieces of white chalk and tossed them into his bag before turning his attention to the runes drawn on the floor.

"Getting back won't be an issue—I've memorized the return runes. It's much simpler than the ones needed for interworld travel."

Taking a deep breath, Grey sat before the magic circle, pouring his mana into it. Instantly, the circle lit up.

"Alright, here we go—my first trip to another world." He tightened his grip on his bag and stepped into the glowing circle.

As soon as he entered, the portal sealed itself, and the magic circle dimmed.

Meanwhile, Grey experienced an indescribable sensation—his senses heightened, and his entire body felt euphoric as a bright white light engulfed him. Then, in an instant, he was thrust out.

Reacting swiftly, he steadied himself before hitting the ground. His first instinct was to observe his surroundings. When he looked up, his eyes widened.

"The sky... it's orange?" he murmured.

The air was thick and heavy, different from what he was used to. But as he activated his appraisal eye, he saw the mana in the world was abundant—far richer than in his own.

Looking around, he noticed he was inside a large cave with an open ceiling, allowing sunlight to pour in. Wasting no time, he began redrawing the magic circle to ensure a way back. Once finished, he carefully inscribed illusionary runes to hide the circle from prying eyes.

"If I hadn't drawn the original teleportation circle at my hideout, I could have ended up somewhere entirely different."

Satisfied with his work, he stepped toward the cave's entrance, marking the spot by infusing a concentrated amount of mana into the cave's entrance.

"This should help me locate the cave later," he noted.

Just as he was about to move forward, he halted abruptly. Looking down, he noticed the cave was situated atop a steep cliff, and just beneath it was a deep chasm.

"Phew… That was close. One wrong step and I'd be dead."

Turning his gaze outward, his brows furrowed.

"Mountains? Caves? Where's the land?"

The entire landscape was filled with towering mountains, rocky terrain, and a sparse scattering of forests. Luckily, the caves he spotted were far from his own, meaning he wouldn't have to worry about others stumbling upon his hideout.

"Alright, time for some exploration."

Activating his wind magic, he levitated a few meters off the ground and soared through the air like a bird. Within minutes, he had crossed the mountains and finally arrived at the small forest he had seen from a distance.

Standing amidst towering trees, he smirked. "When I'm done hunting, I would love to explore those caves some more." He said as he removed his small Earth dagger and shaped it into a small sword.

"Alright beasts, where are you all hiding?" he called out.

No sooner when he asked his question, a deep growl echoed from his left.

Grey grinned. "Hunting time."

This note is to apologize for the countless author's note I keep releasing. It isn't my way of filling the word count (actually, it is) the issue is that I re-read all my chapters and noticed a lot of errors.

So in order to rectify them, I had to copy and paste my chapters to an app to help eliminate those errors. Turns out, it eliminated a quarter of my word counts so it's lesser and Webnovel won't allow me publish anything less so here we are.

I'm sorry guys.🥺
