CHAPTER 41

Poppy walked out of the Chinese restaurant, inhaling the mouthwatering smell of her food. She was basically hurrying her feet towards the edge of the pedestrian side of the road, eyes going from left to right for a taxi to flag down.

One eventually slowed down right in front of her, and she pulled the door open, stepping inside to sit in the passenger seat. Without asking for her destination or anything of the sort, the driver drove off, raising the speed of the car a bit.

Poppy's brows constricted in a frown, and she lifted her gaze to the driver. Something was off. She glanced at him through the rearview mirror, noting the face mask he wore.

Why did he have on a face mask?

Poppy was beginning to get confused and suspicious. There was something off about this man. He didn't even ask for her destination, so how did he know where she was heading off to? It was almost as if he wasn't actually a simple taxi driver.
