Jaqin exhaled deeply, then effortlessly pushed him aside as if it were routine, whisking me away without a backward glance. He escorted me to his vehicle, disregarding Kirst's theatrical complaints as he drove off, leaving my brother behind.


I giggled at the absurdity, and Jaqin glanced my way with a sly wink. "See? A smile suits you better," he remarked casually.
