And that was it…
He disappeared like he never existed without even bothering to tell her.
It was a week now and Hazel got the information from one of the aunties, telling her Psalm wasn't going to come back anymore. He didn't even let the kids know that he won't be back.
The day she was told that, she sat down in a corner with a fallen countenance. It pained her more than anything.
As she stepped out of her apartment and looked ahead of her, she found Kervin standing beside his car as he waved at her in excitement.
Ever since Kervin asked her to give him a chance, he had been very admirable but insanely annoying at times. And it became a routine for him to drop her off at work and come get her later.
She smiled and walked across the road and all the way to him.
On getting to him, he embraced her and gave her a kiss on the forehead and she hugged him back.
"You didn't sleep well again," he said as he slowly pulled away to stare down at her.
"I couldn't," she truthfully said.
"I think I should start staying with you, don't you think so?" He proposed and she chuckled.
Opening the front door for her, Hazel climbed in and made herself comfortable. The first time Kervin came to pick her from work, he had entered the car without bothering to open the door for her but as days went by, he surprised her one day by opening the door for her.
"Haze?"
"Yes?" She faced him when he got inside the car.
"Can we go out again? This time for a proper date. You'll wear a fancy dress and I'll wear a dashing looking tuxedo," he proposed and wiggled his eyebrows at her, causing her to smile.
They weren't a thing yet but Kervin didn't give up.
"Let me think about it," she said instead and he frowned.
"Are you trying to play hard to get?" he asked and she nodded.
"Isn't it obvious?"
At her question, he arched his brows like he was greatly impressed before starting the engine.
As he drove out of her area, Hazel watched him in admiration.
He was gorgeous, smart, rich to her own little knowledge and damn sexy.
And as if he heard her thoughts, he smiled and glanced at her.
"I know right? I'm too damn attractive," he proclaimed and she rolled her eyes before looking ahead of her.
And while they were still in that atmosphere, Hazel got a call to which she frowned at.
"Who's that?" Kervin curiously asked and took one glance before smiling to himself.
"My mother."
Taking a deep breath, Hazel prepared herself before answering the call because she knew exactly why the woman was calling.
"Hazel dear?"
"Yes, mom," she dully answered.
"Can you lend me some cash?"
At her request, Hazel's mood changed drastically. She already knew why the woman needed cash. It was for drugs.
"I don't have any," she lied.
"Oh come on darling. I know you do," she pressed on and it irritated Hazel.
"Why don't you ask your other kids," she proposed and the line went silent for a moment before her mother lied again.
"That's why I need the cash, it's for your sister. She got pregnant again and I need to help her with it."
"Stop it mom, just stop it," Hazel tiredly said.
She didn't want Kervin to find out about her awful life because she feared he may decide to leave but unknown to her, he knew a whole lot more than she ever imagined.
"Please, Hazel. I'm really desperate," her mother pleaded and Hazel ended the call while trying so hard to remain calm.
"Did she call to check up on you?" Kervin purposely asked and Hazel hummed in response before looking out the side of her window to get her emotions together.
"I'll love to meet her one day," Kervin proposed and Hazel quickly whipped her head in his direction with her eyes wide open.
"Why?" She demanded.
"Isn't it a natural thing to do," he casually said and shrugged.
"We're not even a thing."
"But with the way things are going, we could be," he said and glanced at her.
"Don't be so sure," she said and he chuckled without bothering to comment on it.
Not too long after, Kervin's car pulled up by the orphanage home and he waved her off but remained seated in his car till she had gone in before he drove off.
"Is this what you were called to do, Kervin? To be intimate with a mortal?"
At that question, Kervin scoffed without bothering to look around because he knew who it was that had materialized himself inside his car.
"As if you yourself aren't in a mortal body," he scoffed.
"And does that make you one?" Psalm inquired.
"When did you care what I did and didn't, Psalm?" He left the wheel and turned to face the angel who sat on the back seat.
"Does it look like I care?" Psalm asked back and Kervin laughed.
"Stop deceiving yourself, Angel Psalm. And do you even know what the word intimate means in my dictionary? Be careful with the words you say to me, I might decide to execute them," he declared while wiggling his brows in a knowing manner and it angered Psalm to a point he gripped Kervin by the collar and punched him across the face but this time, the demon didn't sit back and let himself get beaten rather he punched Psalm back.
"How dare you think that way?" Psalm demanded while landing him blows from every angle.
"Have you forgotten who I am? I'm free to think the way I want even if it means thinking about Hazel's naked body," Kervin added more fuel and it provoked Psalm so much that he decided to teleport both of them out of the car because there wasn't enough space.
When they appeared in an open space, Kervin escaped from the angel's firm hold while laughing like a maniac with his bloody face and Psalm wasn't any different.
"Why waste your energy when we'll still fight when the world comes to an end?" Kervin asked but Psalm didn't seem to care.
"STAY AWAY FROM HER!" Psalm yelled at him.
"I WILL NOT!" Kervin refused and both of them glared at each other as they breathed heavily.
"I'M GOING TO REPORT YOU TO THE AUTHORITIES IN HELL," Psalm threatened.
"AND SO WILL I, PSALM! AT LEAST I WON'T BE THE ONLY ONE WHO GETS PUNISHED," Kervin said and burst into laughter.
