As the plane touched down in Seattle, Lexi felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was glad to be back in the United States, and she was looking forward to a few days of rest and relaxation.
Ethan, who was sitting beside her, smiled and stood up. "Welcome back to Seattle," he said.
Lexi smiled and followed him off the plane. As they made their way through the airport, Lexi couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. She had no idea what the future held, but she was ready for whatever came next.
As they stepped out of the airport, Lexi pulled out her phone and dialed a familiar number. Samantha, the investigator, answered on the first ring.
Samantha's voice was urgent on the phone. "Hi Lexi, I need to talk to you about something important."
Lexi's instincts kicked in. "What is it, Samantha?"
"A girl was murdered last night," Samantha replied. "And get this - the symbol carved into her body is the same one used by the Order organization."
Lexi's eyes widened. "But what's the connection? Was she involved with the Order?"
"That's the thing," Samantha said. "She didn't have any connection to the Order. I think this might be the doing of someone else, trying to frame the Order."
Lexi's mind was racing. This was getting complicated.
"I need you to come to the crime scene," Samantha said. "Your expertise might help us figure out what's going on."
"Okay, I'll be right there," Lexi said.
She hung up the phone and turned to Ethan. "Samantha just called. There's been another murder, and the symbol carved into the body is the same one used by the Order."
Ethan's expression turned serious. "But the victim had no connection to the Order?"
Lexi nodded. "That's what Samantha said. She thinks someone might be trying to frame the Order."
Ethan's eyes narrowed. "This just got interesting."
"Let's go," Lexi said, already heading for the door.
Ethan followed close behind, his eyes scanning the surroundings as they made their way to the crime scene.
As they arrived at the crime scene, Lexi could see the familiar yellow tape surrounding the area. Samantha was already there, talking to a group of officers.
"Lexi, thanks for coming," Samantha said, as Lexi and Ethan approached. "I think we have a real puzzle on our hands here."
Lexi nodded, taking in the scene. The victim was a young woman, probably in her early twenties. She was lying on the ground, a symbol carved into her chest.
"This symbol is identical to the one used by the Order," Lexi said, examining the carving. "But if the victim had no connection to the Order, then who could have done this?"
Ethan knelt down beside Lexi, studying the symbol. "Maybe it's not about the Order itself, but about someone who wants to make it look like the Order is involved."
Samantha nodded. "That's what I was thinking. But why would someone do that?"
Lexi stood up, her eyes scanning the area. "I think we need to look deeper into the victim's life. See if there were any connections or relationships that could have led to this."
Ethan nodded. "I'll start digging into her background. See if I can find anything suspicious."
Samantha nodded. "I'll get the team to canvass the area, see if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious."
As they began to investigate, Lexi couldn't shake the feeling that they were missing something. Something important.
But what was it?
As they began to investigate, Ethan, who was a skilled detective, started to survey the area, taking in every detail.
"I'll review the security footage and see if I can find any witnesses," Ethan said, his eyes scanning the surrounding buildings.
Samantha nodded. "I'll get the team to canvass the area, see if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious."
Lexi, meanwhile, began to examine the victim's body more closely, looking for any clues that might have been missed.
As they worked, Ethan's phone buzzed with an incoming text. He glanced down and saw that it was from the forensic lab.
"What is it?" Lexi asked, noticing Ethan's expression.
"They've finished processing the evidence from the crime scene," Ethan replied. "It looks like they found a piece of torn fabric near the victim's body."
Samantha's eyes narrowed. "That could be our first real lead. Let's get it to the lab and see if we can match it to anything."
Ethan nodded, already dialing the lab to request that they expedite the analysis.
As they continued to investigate, Lexi couldn't shake the feeling that they were getting closer to uncovering the truth. But she also knew that they still had a long way to go.
"What's our next move?" Lexi asked, looking at Ethan and Samantha.
Ethan thought for a moment. "I think we should pay a visit to the victim's family and friends. See if anyone noticed anything suspicious in the days leading up to her murder."
Samantha nodded. "I'll get the team to start canvassing the area, see if anyone saw or heard anything."
Lexi nodded, her mind already racing with possibilities. She knew that they had a tough road ahead of them, but she was determined to solve the case and bring justice to the victim and her family.
They visited the victim's family and asked a series of questions. "Did she have any enemies?" Samantha asked. "Did she offend anyone she shouldn't have?"
The victim's family shook their heads, answering "no" to every question. They seemed genuinely distraught and confused by the murder.
Samantha, Ethan, and Lexi thanked the family for their time and left the house. As they stepped outside, Ethan turned to Samantha and Lexi. "I'm going to go take another look at the body," he said. "See if I can find anything we might have missed."
Samantha nodded. "I'll meet you back at the station and we can compare notes."
Lexi fell into step beside Ethan. "I'll come with you," she said. "I want to see if I can sense anything unusual."
Ethan nodded, and together they headed back to the morgue. When they arrived, Ethan began to examine the victim's body more closely.
As he looked at the neck, he noticed something he hadn't seen before - a small puncture wound. Ethan's eyes narrowed as he took a closer look.
It was a vampire's bite mark.
Lexi gasped, her eyes widening. "Oh my god," she whispered. "It's a vampire."
Ethan's eyes met Lexi's. "This changes everything," he said.
Lexi nodded, her face pale. "We need to tell Samantha."
Ethan quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Samantha's number. "Samantha, it's Ethan," he said. "I found something on the body. It's a vampire's bite mark."
There was a pause on the other end of the line. "What does that mean?" Samantha asked.
Ethan took a deep breath. "It means we're dealing with a vampire killer now."
Lexi's eyes locked onto Ethan's, a determined look on her face. "We need to catch this vampire," she said. "Before it kills again."
