"I think we've made some good progress today," Ethan said, "but I'm exhausted. Why don't we continue investigating tomorrow?"
Lexi nodded in agreement. "That sounds like a great idea. I'm beat too."
Samantha also agreed, and they decided to call it a day.
As they parted ways, Ethan offered to drive Lexi home. They walked to his car, parked nearby, and got in.
As Ethan started the engine, Lexi turned to him. "Thanks for driving me home, Ethan. I appreciate it."
"No problem," Ethan replied with a smile. "It's on my way anyway."
They drove in comfortable silence for a few minutes, the only sound being the soft hum of the engine.
Then Ethan spoke up, "So, Lexi, what do you think about this case? Do you have any theories?"
Lexi thought for a moment before responding, "I'm not sure yet. But I do know that vampires don't usually leave their victims out in the open like that. They're usually more careful."
Ethan nodded, his eyes on the road. "That's a good point. Maybe our vampire isn't as experienced as we think."
They chatted for a few more minutes, discussing the case and sharing their thoughts and ideas.
As they pulled up to Lexi's apartment building, Ethan turned to her. "Well, we're here. Thanks for the conversation, Lexi. It was nice unwinding with you."
Lexi smiled, her eyes sparkling. "Same to you, Ethan. Goodnight."
Ethan watched as Lexi got out of the car and walked into her building. He smiled to himself, feeling a sense of camaraderie with Lexi.
As he drove away, he couldn't help but wonder what tomorrow would bring. Would they finally catch a break in the case? Only time would tell.
Lexi opened the door to her apartment and stepped inside, locking the door behind her. She took a deep breath, feeling the familiar sense of calm wash over her.
As she walked over to the kitchen, she couldn't shake off the thoughts of the case. She was determined to help Ethan and Samantha solve it.
Lexi's eyes landed on the small altar she had set up in the corner of her living room. It was a reminder of her witch powers, and she felt a surge of energy run through her.
She walked over to the altar and lit a candle, feeling the flickering flame calm her mind. Lexi closed her eyes, focusing on her breath.
"What can I do to help with the case?" she asked herself.
As she stood there, Lexi felt a sudden surge of inspiration. She remembered a spell she had learned from her grandmother, a spell that would allow her to see visions of the past.
Lexi's eyes snapped open, and she felt a sense of excitement. She could use her powers to investigate the case.
With newfound determination, Lexi began to gather the materials she needed for the spell. She was ready to uncover the secrets of the past and help solve the mystery.
Lexi gathered the necessary materials: a small bowl of water, a pinch of sea salt, and a few dried herbs. She sat down on the floor, cross-legged, and placed the bowl in front of her.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and began to chant the words of the spell. The air around her seemed to vibrate with energy as she spoke.
As she finished the spell, Lexi opened her eyes and gazed into the bowl of water. At first, she saw only her own reflection staring back at her.
But then, the water began to ripple and distort, like the surface of a pond on a windy day. Lexi's eyes widened as she saw a vision begin to take shape.
It was a dark and shadowy figure, lurking in the alley where the victim's body was found. Lexi's heart was racing as she tried to make out the figure's features.
But the vision was too unclear, and it faded away before Lexi could get a good look. She sighed in frustration, wondering if she had done the spell correctly.
Just as she was about to give up, Lexi saw another vision. This time, it was a glimpse of a symbol, etched into the wall near the crime scene.
Lexi's eyes snapped open, and she felt a surge of excitement. She had seen something important. She quickly grabbed a piece of paper and began to sketch the symbol.
As she finished the drawing, Lexi felt a sense of pride. She had used her powers to uncover a clue. Now, she just had to share it with Ethan and Samantha.
Lexi quickly grabbed her phone and dialed Ethan's number. He answered on the first ring.
"Hey, Lexi. What's up?" Ethan asked.
"I did a spell to try and uncover some clues," Lexi said, excitement building in her voice. "And I saw something. A symbol etched into the wall near the crime scene."
Ethan's tone turned serious. "What did the symbol look like?"
Lexi described the symbol she had seen, and Ethan listened intently.
"I think I know what that symbol might mean," Ethan said. "Can you meet me at the station tomorrow and we'll discuss it further?"
Lexi agreed and they made plans to meet the next day.
As she hung up the phone, Lexi felt a sense of satisfaction. She had used her powers to help with the case, and she was one step closer to uncovering the truth.
The next morning, Lexi arrived at the police station, eager to discuss the symbol with Ethan.
As she walked into the station, she spotted Ethan and Samantha huddled over a computer screen.
"Hey, Lexi," Ethan said, looking up. "Glad you're here. We've been researching the symbol you described."
Lexi walked over to join them, her eyes scanning the screen.
"What did you find?" she asked.
Ethan leaned back in his chair. "It looks like the symbol is associated with an ancient cult. One that's been thought to be extinct for centuries."
Samantha's eyes met Lexi's. "But what if it's not extinct? What if this cult is still active, and they're behind the murder?"
