Breaking The Sound Barrier

Joe is still trying to process what is happening. He just saw a dead man come back to life and now he can somehow conjure tornados at his whim.

He feels the air getting fast and sees debris getting flung around violently. Joe then sees a large board of wood coming right at him, his eyes widen as he thinks this is it, he is going to die, when he suddenly sees a streak of white lighting hit the board and move it away, saving him from getting crushed by it.

Joe's attention, now on the board of wood, stares at it with disbelief. How did a blot of lightning change the direction of the wood board in an instant?

Then a man in a red suit emerges as he tosses the wood board to the side.

'The fuck is happening?' Joe questions inwardly.

"Barry! Barry! This thing's getting closer. Wind speeds are 200 miles per hour and increasing. Barry, can you hear me?" Barry hears Cisco's voice in his ear through the headphones attached to the suit.

"Yes, loud and clear," Barry answers back.

"If it keeps up, this could become an F-5 tornado," Cisco warns.

"But it's headed toward the city. How do I stop it?" Barry asks as he stares at the raging tornado. He isn't getting any answer from the team.

"What if I unravel it?" Barry comes up with an idea and asks the team. "How the hell are you going to do that?" Caitlin asks.

"I'll run around it in the opposite direction, cut off its legs," Barry says.

"He'd have to clock 700 miles per hour to do that," Cisco says looking at Caitlin, wondering if Barry can run that fast.

"It might be dangerous, Barry. We don't know if your body can handle such speed," Caitlin says.

"700 miles per hour... Guys, I think I can do it. Back at the airstrip, I had much more in me, I have to try," Barry says, confident in his speed.

He turns to look at Joe and sees him staring back at him in bewilderment.

Barry enters super speed, time slows down around him as he runs toward the tornado.

As Barry reaches the foot of the tornado, he begins running circles around it in the opposite direction, picking up incredible speed.

Joe gets back to his feet by supporting himself with his car as he watches the man in the red suit run circles around the tornado.

He sees the streaks of white lightning trail behind the man in the red suit, who is just a blur now. And at this moment, Joe can only think of one thing. The words coming out of an eleven-year-old boy who told him about a man inside the lightning storm that killed his mother.

Barry easily hits the 600 miles and continues to run faster.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, both Caitlin and Cisco are amazed by how fast Barry is running.

"Hehehe, the suit is holding up," Cisco says impressed by his suit.

"Barry, you need to run faster," Caitlin instructs him.

"I can do it," Barry answers back as he feels the lightning coursing through his veins, electrifying his whole being, telling him to embrace this moment, dig his feet into the ground, and run faster.

With an excited smile on his face, Barry runs even faster. *BOOM*

"He just broke the sound barrier..." Cisco says, amazed.

Barry hits speeds of 800 miles per hour, just a little over Mach 1, and once he hits this speed, the tornado stands no chance.

The amount of force and energy that Barry created easily disperses the tornado.

Mardon, who is controlling the tornado from the inside, is shocked as the tornado dissipates in an instant.

He turns to look at the man responsible for stopping him.

Barry stops and catches his breath. His face is out in the open as his mask seems to have been blown off from his speed.

"It's you, from this morning," Mardon says as he recognizes Barry's face. He then pulls out his gun and aims it at Barry.

"I didn't think there was anyone else like me," Mardon says.

"Na, we are not the same. You're a murderer," Barry says.

Mardon grins and is ready to pull the trigger. [Gunshots] Barry sees two bullets fly past him and hit Mardon in the chest.

He falls down, dead. Barry turns around and sees Joe running towards him.

"Barry?" He hears Caitlin's voice in his ear, checking in on him.

"It's over. I did it," Barry says.

Cisco and Caitlin smile as they manage to save the day.

"You really did it," Barry hears Dr. Wells in his ear. He just entered the cortex and saw Barry take down Mardon.

"Dr. Wells," Barry is surprised to hear him.

"You were right, Barry. I am responsible for all of this. So many people have been hurt because of me and when I looked at you, all I saw was another potential victim of my hubris, but you, Mr. Allen, have shown me that we can help, we can help the people of Central City, thank you, Barry," Dr. Wells says.

Cisco and Caitlin look at him and smile, happy that he is finally on board with them.

Joe arrives in front of Barry, worried, but he can't utter a single word. Everything that just happened was beyond anything he could have ever imagined.

The sun is up, and the police have already flooded the scene. There are tapes everywhere and officers at work.

Barry and Joe are leaning against his car. Joe still taking it all in.

"What you can do... It was the lightning bolt?" Joe asks. "More or less," Barry answers.

"I'm sorry, Barry," Joe says shaking his head.

"I'm sorry. I didn't believe you. And I called you crazy for chasing the impossible, but you really did see something that night your mom died, and your dad is innocent," Joe says.

"I don't blame you, Joe. No one would have believed me. Even I started to wonder if it was all in my head," Barry says.

"I need you to promise me something," Joe says getting in front of Barry. "I don't want you telling Iris about anything you can do, any of it. I want her safe. Promise me," Joe says.

"Don't worry, Joe, I understand. I won't tell her," Barry promises.
