Ares has never felt so humiliated by someone ever before. Not only was his divine magic neutralized, but the entirety of the upper half of his body was obliterated by his foe.
To this day, he has never faced such a crushing defeat.
Luckily, this is a fight of life and death, and mere defeats don't count. This fight will only end when one of them dies.
Ares came here to either convince Diana to join his side or kill her before she grows any stronger. He never thought he would encounter a user of the Speed Force.
A cosmic source of power that has no beginning or end.
But Ares was not so concerned about this because even if this mortal could harness the power of the speed force, he wouldn't have access to all of its power.
And as a divine being, he liked his chances.
But never in a million years would he have thought that this mortal would be able to harness the true potential of the Speed Force.
In his very long, long life, never has he seen a user of the Speed Force this powerful.
This made Ares wary. He is no longer confident in his victory. This mortal speedster has become his biggest hurdle.
If he wishes to eliminate the one that can bring him death, he needs to find a way to deal with his mortal speedster.
Ares knows a thing or two about fighting speedsters, as he has fought Hermes many times, but rarely has he ever won. The thing about Speedsters is that one is never fast enough to catch them.
To defeat them is to think outside the box.
But how can he think outside the box when he is against someone who seems to be able to travel at light speed? He is moving so fast that time becomes irrelevant. How is he going to deal with someone like this?
'Maybe a distraction?' Ares thinks. The only way to defeat a speedster of Flash's caliber is to catch him off guard fast enough.
"You are a formi-" before he can even finish a word, his jaw goes flying as Flash doesn't waste a single second letting the god talk.
After experiencing everything he has in this fight, Barry is not going to act stupid.
He has the most broken ability of all. To do things in an instant. He is not going to let this god set more traps and walk into them like an idiot.
So the moment Barry saw Ares open his mouth to talk, he attacked.
Running at him at almost the speed of light, he punched Ares right in the jaw, completely ripping his jaw off his face.
As Ares stands there, shocked as his jaw dangles with just some skin and muscle strands holding it, Barry immediately appears before him once again.
Ares's eyes widen, and his pupils constrict. "YAarrrrr!" he tries to say something, but Barry is not having any of it.
He starts vibrating his hand extremely fast and then chops them down on Ares's arms, cutting them off clean from his shoulders.
As his arms fall down on the ground, Barry zooms behind Ares and buckles Ares's knees by kicking the back of them at near light speed.
Ares's knees shatter, and he collapses. Barry immediately grabs him by the head to stop his body from hitting the ground and looks at Diana.
"Diana, now!" Barry shouts.
Diana, who has been watching all this happen with bewildered eyes, finally snaps out. Seeing Ares vulnerable, she moves.
She knows what to do. Channeling all the power of the speed force inside her that Barry bestowed upon her, she combines her own divine power into it.
It is her own divine power that is the key to slaying Ares, a gift from her father, Zeus.
Lightning flashes and glows with divine light around Diana's arms as she charges at Ares faster than she has ever moved.
Ares watches Diana run at him with fear in his eyes, and he can't do anything about it. His body is not regenerating fast enough.
Diana arrives before Ares and plunges her hands into Ares's chest. Her divine light fused with the speed force, and lightning seeped into Ares's body.
Ares lets out a guttural scream filled with pain and disbelief. A god like him, someone who has won countless wars, has been slain in the middle of nowhere.
Cracks start forming all over Ares's body as divine light and lightning start seeping out of them.
Ares's whole body starts heating up as an extreme amount of energy starts building up inside his body.
Seeing this, Barry immediately makes a move. He runs up to Diana, grabs her, and makes a run for it.
Ares explodes, and the energy released is massive.
Barry runs with Diana in his arms and only stops when he no longer feels the energy following him.
He finally stops running and puts Diana down, and turns around.
What they see is a massive crater over ten kilometers in diameter. The size of this crater is larger than the height of Mount Everest
Luckily, they were in the middle of a forest that spans hundreds of kilometers.
"We did it," Diana says as she feels the divine energy that belonged to Ares escape from this plane and return to a higher realm.
"Yes, we did," Barry says as the first ray of sunlight seeps into the horizon, brightening the sky.
Diana turns her head to look at Barry, and Barry looks back at her.
As their eyes meet, Diana steps closer and plants a kiss on his lips, surprising Barry, but he soon kisses her back.
He places his hand on her waist and pulls her closer as they share a passionate, wild kiss as the sun begins to rise from the horizon.
