disgust

Despite his father's constant discouragement over the years, Lysander had never doubted Asuriel. He wasn't even sure why Callum distrusted her in the first place, so their drama had never made sense to him.

After the funeral, Lysander finally decided to confront him. He chased down his dad, who had nearly gotten back to the parking lot, completely out of sight of the grove.

…But he had no idea his attempt at confrontation would quickly turn into him being confronted.

After catching up with him, before he could say a word, Callum was scolding him.

"You need to stay away from her, Lysander Dain," his father warned, his voice low and hateful.

Lysander couldn't fathom the man's train of thought. "Why do you act like she's a danger to me?"

Callum's jaw was tight as he replied, "Because she is."
