There was a massive shift after the funeral – in everyone.

Lysander was left behind, full of regret. He allowed the realization that his father didn't care what he did anymore to sink in. He realized he still loved Asuriel – more than she could ever know. But now, he had to face the fact that he might have already lost her and that he no longer had a father to fall back on.

Rowan, after hearing the retelling of what happened, was disgusted. He always liked Lysander, but after learning he had never stood up for her? The typically light-hearted man had lost all respect for him.

…and Vaerion? He had never been more certain of anything in his long life: Asuriel belonged to him now.

As promised, Vaerion sold Asuriel's apartment the day after the ceremony. Callum was already gone, and Lysander, pained by the knowledge that Asuriel had actually gone to live with the devil, moved to a hotel for the time being.
