Shortly after breakfast, Vaerion left. He had to be out for several hours despite it being a Sunday because "the infernal courts don't care about weekends," and there were a few serious things he had to tend to.
Asuriel was both disappointed and relieved by his absence. Ever since the funeral, Vaerion had hardly left her side – which did make her feel safe but was also a bit suffocating.
After lightly chastising Kismet for stealing Vaerion's things, Asuriel decided to head to the parlor to relax and read a book. She had yet to read the novel Theo gifted her for her birthday, and she was dying to delve into it. Fantasy was a welcome respite from her real life's chaos.
Unfortunately, as soon as she walked into the parlor, book in hand, she realized she wouldn't have the time to herself.
Apparently, Kaine and Darion also made themselves at home in the mansion.
