The glass of wine in Daniel's hand tilted slightly, the amber liquid catching the sharp glow of the study's chandelier. He exhaled sharply, staring down at the rim of the glass, the silence pressing in and in around him.
Regina's words from last night still echoed in his head.
"I was just horny too. You were just the fastest way to get it out of my system."
His grip around the glass tightened.
It was nothing.
It meant nothing to him.
Daniel rolled the glass between his fingers, jaw tightening as he forced himself to believe it as he let out a scoff. Because if he didn't, if he let himself feel even an ounce of what those words had done to him, he was going to lose his mind.
She had meant to hurt him. That much was clear. Regina has always struck with precision, always cutting to make sure the blade would be very deep.
