Daniel opened the letter with a sigh, immediately rolling his eyes at the formality of it.

Please be advised that your attendance is expected at a charity gala that my mother asked for your support, and please note that I would be driving in seperate cars and no response from you is necessary as I do not expect any disagreement.

Typical. Regina couldn't even ask him directly. She had to make it sound like a demand, not an invitation. He folded the letter back, irritation bubbling up. Why didn't she just tell him in person? Why all the drama? Was this her way of proving something?

"God, she's so petty," he muttered under his breath, tossing the letter aside.

Margaret, his housekeeper, came into the study just then, carrying a tray of drinks. She looked at him, noticing the irritation on his face.

"Something wrong, sir?" she asked, her voice gentle.
