16. Meeting in her bedroom (Part 2)

I thought Sasai-san glanced at me, but she quickly went back to her conversation. I was curious about what she had talked about with Yuki in the morning, but it wasn't the right time to ask.In the end, I entered class as usual, and time passed quickly. The last class, the fifth period, was a math class, and the teacher was explaining a problem about probability."So, the probability of getting a red ball and a white ball is..."As the teacher was explaining using the blackboard, I noticed something. Sasai-san, who was sitting in front of me, looked as if she was asleep.Her textbook is open, but her head is bobbing up and down. The teacher doesn't seem to have noticed yet, but if you listen carefully, you can hear what sounds like breathing coming from Sasai.Thinking that Sasai might get in trouble, I consider waking her up. It might be going too far, but I don't want to see her get in trouble. First, I put my pencil, with the lead retracted, on her shoulder and tapped it lightly, but that didn't change the situation.I considered waking her up directly with my hand, but touching a girl's body was a big obstacle for me. In the end, I poked her shoulder and back a little harder with the tip of the pencil, with the lead still in it.But she didn't react. So, I decided to take a chance and poke her around her side. I guess I was too keen on waking her up. When I poked her under her right armpit, she finally reacted. She let out a "Yay!" and seemed to wake up in an instant.This is bad, I thought. However, my regret was too late, and sure enough, the whole class's attention was on Sasai-san."...Ugh...I'm embarrassed...I want to disappear..." Sasai-san was like this the whole time after class. I apologized profusely for waking her up carelessly."No, Sato-kun, it's not your fault...it's my fault for making that weird noise."I thought she would get angry, but she seemed to hold back. In reality, she would probably demand an apology. After all, I woke her up and humiliated her. But Sasai-san's thoughts seemed to be turning to her own academic ability. She was depressed because she couldn't keep up with the classes."I guess I'm no good at math after all... I can't understand it anymore, I get sleepy during class, I have to do something about this unit for now... but I want to go to basketball club today."To her, who was worried like that, I made a cheesy suggestion like, "Why don't you just try doing it for 30 minutes a day for now...?" I could only say very ordinary things to keep the conversation going.However, Sasai said that even though she tries to do it like that, she ends up opening up another subject. Recently, she doesn't even seem to want to look at her math textbook, and the situation seems quite serious. "Hmm, ah, then..."At that moment, she spoke out as if she had just thought of something. Then, she said, "Okay, I've decided," and came close to my ear and began to speak in a low voice."Sato-kun, if you're free after school tomorrow, could you please promise me yesterday that you'd teach me math...? I'm thinking of studying tomorrow instead of going to the basketball club..."Although I said it yesterday, I honestly didn't think it would actually come true. I thought she'd ask other girls, no matter what. It was like a joke that Sasai-san would rely on a creepy guy like me."...It's okay...I don't have anything planned after school tomorrow..."In fact, I have no plans other than going to the literature club, so I'm a person with a lot of free time, except for going home with Yuki. Sasai-san seemed relieved when she heard that and made a promise with me."Oh, thanks...Then, after school tomorrow...at my house, okay?"Sasai-san kept whispering until the end, and when she finished saying it, she stood up and left the classroom. She was probably heading to the basketball club."...Eh, th-that..."I thought I'd just heard a word I couldn't miss, but was it just my imagination? By "my house" I meant Sasai's house, which meant that I was going to Sasai's house. Of course that was a joke, but she left without correcting me.
