Chapter 54: Heist

Jin sprinted through the bank with his duffel bag slung over his shoulder, the absurdity of the situation making him grin as he reached the massive steel door of the vault. He pulled the crowbar out of his bag and planted his feet, jamming the tool into the door's seam with all the force he could muster.

The metal groaned faintly, but it was clear that this wasn't going to be an easy task. Jin frowned, giving it another hard push, the muscles in his arms flexing. Still, the door remained stubbornly unmoved.

"Seriously?" he muttered under his breath. He yanked the crowbar out, adjusted his grip, and tried again, gritting his teeth as the tool barely made a dent. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself. "Guess movies make this look way easier."

Just as he prepared for another attempt, the sound of heavy footsteps reached his ears. He paused, his head tilting slightly as he listened to the muffled commands of the arriving guards.

"Surround the vault area!" one of them ordered.

Jin straightened, tossing the crowbar aside with a casual flick of his wrist. The smile returned to his face as he turned to face the approaching guards, his hands resting on his hips.

"Finally." he said softly, his voice laced with excitement.

The first guard rounded the corner, baton in hand, his expression a mix of determination and caution. "Kid, step away from the vault! This is your last warning!"

Jin raised his hands mockingly, taking a single step forward. "Oh no, the big bad guards are here to stop me." His tone was dripping with fake fear, and the smirk playing on his lips only made the guard more agitated.

"Take him down!" the guard shouted.

The first guard lunged, swinging his baton in a wide arc. Jin's eyes tracked the movement with ease. He sidestepped effortlessly, his footwork fluid as he grabbed the guard's wrist mid-swing. With a sharp twist, Jin disarmed him, the baton flying out of the man's hand and clattering to the ground.

Before the guard could recover, Jin shifted his grip, hooking a foot behind the man's ankle and sweeping his legs out from under him. The guard hit the floor with a dull thud, but Jin made sure the fall wasn't hard enough to cause real harm.

The second guard charged in, swinging wildly. Jin ducked under the first strike, his movements smooth and controlled. He caught the second strike with his palm, the force of the baton doing nothing.

"You're gonna have to try harder than that." Jin said.

He retaliated with a quick jab to the guard's stomach, not hard enough to injure, but enough to knock the wind out of him. The guard staggered backward, gasping for air, while Jin pivoted, catching sight of two more guards entering the fray.

"Ah, reinforcements. Good."

The third guard rushed in with a taser, aiming for Jin's midsection. Jin dodged with a sharp sidestep, grabbing the guard's wrist and twisting it just enough to make him drop the weapon. He spun the man around, using his momentum to gently shove him into the fourth guard, who was coming in with a riot shield.

The two guards collided and stumbled, giving Jin an opening. He leapt forward, grabbing the edge of the riot shield and yanking it out of the fourth guard's hands. With a single smooth motion, he tossed it aside and planted his foot firmly, driving a kick into the ground that sent a shockwave rippling through the floor.

The guards froze, their balance thrown off by the sudden tremor. Jin took advantage of the moment, moving like a blur as he disarmed the last remaining guard, sending their weapons scattering across the floor.

Within moments, all four guards were on the ground, groaning in mild pain but otherwise unharmed. Jin stood in the center of the chaos, his breathing steady, his expression calm.

"You guys did great." he said, clapping his hands together. "But next time, maybe bring more backup?"

He turned back toward the vault, brushing his hoodie off as if nothing had happened. Behind him, the guards exchanged bewildered glances, none of them quite sure how they'd just been subdued by a teenager.

Jin smiled to himself. 'Not bad for a warm-up.'

He approached the massive steel safe, his face set in a calm, focused expression. He assessed the crowbar's earlier impact, noting the slight bend it had made in the thick steel. Taking a deep breath, he coiled his fist back, channeling strength into his arm.

With a precise motion, Jin unleashed a devastating punch toward the weak point the crowbar had created.

BOOM!

The sound of the impact reverberated through the room as a small shockwave rippled outward, shaking the nearby shelves. His knuckles left a shallow dent in the steel, just enough to weaken it further. Jin stepped back, grabbing the crowbar and hammer once more. With quick, practiced motions, he pried at the safe's dented edge.

CLANG!

With all of his strength and a red face he slowly pushed the heavy door until it was wide enough for him to enter.

With the door finally giving way, creaking open to reveal piles of cash and gold bars gleaming under the dim light. Jin's eyes flicked over the treasure, he quickly evaluated the situation and made a choice.

'Take the most valuable things.'

He wasted no time, shoving bundles of cash into the duffel bag, focusing on the highest denominations. He then grabbed as many gold bars as the bag could hold without slowing him down. His movements were swift, efficient.

Just as he was zipping the bag shut, the faint sound of police sirens reached his ears. Jin straightened, his sharp gaze turning toward the entrance.

'They're faster than I expected.'

The sound of heavy boots echoed through the bank as the police flooded the building. Jin slung the duffel bag over his shoulder and moved toward the exit, but a group of officers blocked his path.

"FREEZE!" one of them shouted, his gun drawn.

Jin's expression remained neutral, his body relaxed but poised. "Sorry, officers." he said coolly. "But I don't plan to stick around."

One officer lunged toward him, attempting to grab the bag. Jin sidestepped smoothly, using the man's momentum against him and sending him stumbling to the side. Another officer came in with a baton, swinging it toward Jin's ribs.

Jin ducked under the swing, his movements fluid and precise. With a quick sweep of his leg, he knocked the officer off balance, sending him to the ground unharmed.

"Stay back!" another officer yelled, advancing cautiously.

Jin sighed, his eyes sharp as he assessed the group surrounding him. Three more officers closed in, their stances tense but determined.

The first officer lunged again, and Jin responded with a quick, controlled strike to the man's shoulder, disarming him without causing injury. The second officer swung his baton downward, but Jin caught his wrist mid-swing, twisting gently to force him to drop the weapon. A well-placed tap to the back of the officer's knee sent him crumpling to the floor, unharmed.

The third officer hesitated, his hands trembling slightly. Jin met his gaze and held up a hand. "Don't." Jin said firmly. "You'll just embarrass yourself."

The officer froze, unsure of how to proceed, before Jin darted past him with blinding speed. He moved like a blur, weaving through the officers blocking the exit and leaving them scrambling to react.

As he burst through the front doors of the bank, the cacophony of sirens grew louder. Several police cars were parked out front, their lights flashing. Jin tightened his grip on the duffel bag, glancing at the nearest alleyway.

'Time to disappear.'

With a quick burst of speed, Jin darted down the alley, his agility allowing him to scale a nearby fence with ease. Behind him, shouts and footsteps echoed, but Jin didn't slow down.

'I'll let them chase me for a bit.' he thought, a small flicker of amusement crossing his features. 'Just to make it believable.'

Despite the tense situation, Jin moved with calculated precision, his mind already formulating his next steps. He had what he needed. Now it was time to see the system's plan unfold.
