They scampered to safety, the stones becoming more plenty, meeting glass cups with a clatter and falling them down.
The ghost slayers were clothed in long gowns, like ancient chinese masters, with long beards and dour, stern faces that radiated brutality.
The villagers, seeing them ran to safety, their hands in the hair, shouting and screaming. Rhett, Ash and the guards took to the back door of the restaurant, their heads bending down. Opening the back door, they were met with a place that reeked of left over foods.
Crashing over the plates, they ran, their steps trampling the floor censoriously.
"Call for back up!", cried Ash.
One of the guards ran away to call for backup, definitely to call other guards. A horse was tied to a small pole opposite them and Ash pointed there.
"Let's go get the horse", said Ash.
Rhett hesitated, looking at the ghost slayers tearing the kingdom apart. He didn't know what the dragon slayers did to them that resulted in this brutality.
"What's our crime", Rhett whispered to Ash.
"It's the feud m'lord, the damn feud that had been going on for years. Now, I do not know in particular, their reason for all this!".
Dragon slayers in knight's armour with swords in their hands rushed over to to the ghost slayers and a bit of a war broke out. The fight was a brutal one, the ghost slayers merciless, slaying half of the dragon slayers easily.
Rhett watched in big, angry eyes. His face suddenly pale. A dragon slayer managed to slay a ghost slayer though, but it was the last thing he ever did. A sword was into his chest and he slumped on the ground, dead.
That angered Rhett who walked over to the scene, his eyes bloodshot like, on his mouth a frown.
"What is the meaning of this!", he asked. "You walk into my kingdom and start to rip it apart".
The dragon slayers halted and faced him, staring at him intently.
"M'lord, you'll get yourself murdered", cried Ash.
Rhett ignored the voice. The guard with Ash quickly came over to rhett and stood beside him, at least he would be happy performing his duties as the king's guard, even though it means dying.
The ghost slayers eyes were still on Rhett, gazing at him intently. Then the knights of the ghost slayers on flying ghost pigs with wings parted, and from their middle came a white ghostly horse with wings, a man with a white ghostly crown on his head, sitting on it. He was clearly the king of the ghost slayers.
"Oh!", exclaimed the king of the ghost slayers. "Haven't you learned new king!. You just don't sit down as a king and wait for battle, you start one. Here, a king is a warrior and not just a throne sitter".
Rhett felt angered by this and he felt like charging at the ghost slayer king but he knew that would be bad and would only get him killed, so he stood at the spot. He looked sideways and saw the villagers running helter skelter, some shouting:
"Save us our king!".
He looked at the ghost slayers again, he honestly could do nothing at this point and even though inside of him wanted him to attack, he knew it was just self pride.
"So king of the dragon slayers!", called the king of ghost slayers. "What are you going to do with us!, watch us rip your kingdom apart?".
Rhett hated that and at that moment, he was tempted to charge forward and rip the ghost slayer's face apart.
Ash whispered slowly to him: "If you listen to me m'lord, we can escape, we can get out of here".
Rhett whispered from the side of his mouth: "What about the villagers, we leave them to die?".
Ash whispered back: "They all won't die m'lord, some will survive. But if you attack, you'll get killed and they too".
The guard beside Rhett was hearing this all along and he nodded his head forward in the affirmative for him to listen.
The ghost slayers swords were now high in the air, waving it. They hit their swords together to radiate fear and slashed it in the air. Then, the creatures they were one moving forward slowly, they neared Rhett.
In that brief moment, Rhett contemplated. He frankly had to listen to ash's advice. It was the only way out of this mess. But escaping?, to where exactly.
"Where are we escaping too", whispered rhett to Ash. "We can't escape here, we'll be followed and murdered brutally".
Ash whispered back, a very low whisper: "Getting to the portal is our problem, once we get there, we-".
The voice of the ghost slayers king interrupted Rhett: "Kill them", he bawled. "They are discussing an escape plan!"
"Run!", cried Ash.
They ran, rhett, ash and the guard. Their legs moving very briskly. The ghost slayers followed, their swords in the air.
They took a corner road, there, villagers filled it, running helter skelter in dismay.
"Are we almost there?", asked Rhett.
"Soon!", responded Ash.
Up ahead were more king guards. Ash directed, with a sign language, that one of them follow him while the others hold down the ghost slayers. They complied and a guard was with rhett, the others attacking the ghost slayers.
Now that it was two guards with them, Ash felt they were kind of safe. Looking back, Ash saw that truly, according to plan, the guards were holding the ghost slayers back, giving them more momentum to run.
"Where's the portal?", asked Rhett.
"It's inside a well", came the reply from Ash.
"A well?", exclaimed Rhett. "Holy crap!".
They turned left, to what seemed like an alley, going inside. They turned right and now, rhett could see a well up ahead.
They now heard sound of ghost slayers at their backs. Ash was frightened by the sound of the noise. Looking back now, he saw the ghost slayers charging at them. Oh!, victory was so near and now it was soon to be disrupted.
The two guards suddenly stopped.
"Go my king", they said in unison. "Best of luck".
With that they turned backwards, their swords held firmly in hand and attacked the ghost slayers.
Rhett and Ash continued forward, and soon they were at the well. Looking back, they saw the guards fighting the ghost slayers but soon, they were down - the guards had fallen dead!.
Ash opened the well and Rhett, looking at it, felt scared. He couldn't jump inside.
"Go first", Rhett urged Ash who immediately did so, proving to him their was no harm.
The ghost slayers were dashing at rhett now who was looking at the well, he heard the distant and low sound of Ash's voice. Then, taking a deep breath -a really quick one, he dived into the well.
He kept falling, deeper into the well, the last thing he heard was:
"Raze the damn village!".
