Rhett and Ash were greatly startled by the voice, turning their heads around they saw absolutely nothing!.
It sounded like a female voice, but the commanding tone made it like a lighter male voice. It almost sounded like a child's voice, they couldn't say, they saw nothing.
The atmosphere suddenly became scary to them, they exchanged frightful voices and changed positions, their backs now resting on each other, their eyes fixed forward, ready for battle.
Rhett brought out his sword and holding it almost clumsily, he was braced for battle.
"Who's that?", Rhett finally voiced out.
The long, piquant chirps of crickets answered him.
They remained positioned for a battle, Ash's mouth was already shivering by now and he felt as scared as hell!.
The voice again: [JUST DO AS I HAD EARLIER BIDDED].
Rhett was perplexed by this, he blurted:
"Who the heck is that!" .
Two pigeons flew in the sky above him, their wings wind open, flapping them, some feathers escaping and falling on their faces slowly with the characteristics of leaves falling down from a tree branch.
Ash's eyes were wide open and with the wind blowing his beards sideways, he looked silly in a way. Those terrified, terror-shot eyes blinked almost incessantly.
Rhett suddenly whispered to Ash:
"Be prepared for anything, be prepared".
Ash nodded, moving in a way, with the motions of the wind.
The voice came over again:
[JUST SPIN THE DAMN COIN YOU DAFT HEADED NITWITS!]
Ash quickly halted, his stance of battle going away and in his face a jeering smile, the terror-shot eyes driven away.
"Okay, okay!", he said. "It's alright now kid, come out, we know it's you already, come the-".
The voice: [I'M NOT A KID]
Ash smiled and sat on the floor, stroking his beards.
"Quit lying, we know it's you".
Rhett, who was still positioned for a fight, was bewildered.
"What the crap are you doing", he said almost out loud to Ash, his face expressing shock.
Ash whispered to him: "I know what I'm doing alright, this is a kid right here. Relax and don't worry, let me handle it".
Rhett was shunned by that and he lacked speech, he was speechless.
Ash faced nothing, just the air and the soft breeze blowing his face, he said:
"Come out!, arghhh, we don't have all day, we have somewhere to go, kid!".
A bird suddenly plunged out of nowhere and plunged itself into Ash's face who fell backwards onto the ground. He was struggling with the creature and already, it was already doing an ache ladened work on his face.
"No!, no!, no!", Ash screamed. "Get off!, get off!'.
Rhett quickly dropped his sword and went to his rescue, using his hands to catch the bird and then twisting its neck, killing it. He threw it down the clock and as he watched it fall, to him it was like the bird was falling into an abyss and he sort of relished the moment.
Ash was up, still on the floor but now he was sitting, his face slightly bruised from the beak of the bird.
"Such a wicked creature!", he exclaimed.
Now, more birds took to the skies, and then, in mid-flight, they rode towards Rhett and Ash who used their hands to cover their heads.
A loud cry escaped from Ash's mouth and Rhett's own, coming out, sounded muffled.
The birds perched and perched on their heads and occasionally, 'Ouch', 'Ouch', 'Ouch', escaped from their mouths.
When it seemed like they could take no more, Rhett, crouching, darted to where his sword was and picked it up, waving it in the air. It killed some birds of thought and falling down, he kicked them.
Ash hands were waving in the air, not in appreciation but instead to drive the birds away. The act proved useless as the birds perched and perched.
The voice came over again: [JUST SPIN THE COIN TO FREE YOURSELF FROM THIS!]
Ash suddenly became angered.
"Damn you, you piece of fossil. If it's that easy, why not come out and spin it yourself".
[WELL, BECAUSE IT'S -], the voice faltered and then, with a loud whistle, perhaps(certainly) from the voice, the birds all flew back in the skies.
The place was now clear of birds and Ash breathed in and out for quite long before he finally paused.
Rhett fell to the ground and breathed in and out too. Right now, he was feeling woozy and even to think straight was an effort. The coin was still in the folded palms of Ash's right hand who was flat on the ground and for now, they could no longer hear the voice.
Or perhaps it was just temporarily quiet?.
They knew better.
An assiduous blow of the wild did it, a figure was out of nowhere and dashing towards Ash. The figure was small in size and before it could get at Ash, Rhett had made himself a spear and was into it, jolting it downwards.
They fought for long in that position. Rhett threw punches to the figure's face which he couldn't see because he was dizzy. The punches he was giving the figure were weak. But yet, through all this dizziness and dizziness, he still still overpowered the person he was fighting and it greatly surprised him.
The figure was brisk though, it moved around very fast with its legs. But Rhett and Ash couldn't quite see the figure. What they saw were only blurry things which their brains couldn't steady.
Suddenly the figure pulled out of their reach and stood far off, near a cliff, its back facing them.
It stood like that for a long time and then suddenly, like being fueled by insanity it attacked Ash, struggling to get the coin out of his hands.
Rhett's blurry vision was clearing by now and he could see the figure, indeed it was a kid as Ash had earlier said.
But then, the kicking of Ash's hand startled Rhett but before he could make any move, the black coin was out of Ash's right hand, rolling in the air…
…to fall off the big clock.
