The moon goddess bent on her knees before him. ''It's a pity. I am just starting to warm up to her.''
Her gaze burned with hidden desire to conquer and destroy, yet another emotion, carefully concealed, flickered as she noticed the mortal cradled in his arms. She had observed from afar as the Demon Prince grew overly attached to a human from the moment of her birth. Since she was the supreme God and the ruler of space and time, matter and spirit and any other thing that makes up the universe as a whole—she is quite aware of the existence of this peculiar world. Where its inhabitants are nothing but ordinary. Far more intelligent than any of them could ever be.
But there was none as corrupt and unholy as them.
She never expected him to know about her little secret so fast and before any other supernatural could be wise enough to learn about it. It came as another shock when he had already grown so attached to one of the elements of her little secret and that element had become a huge hindrance to him going back home.
The Demon Prince does not belong to this plane of existence. He had broken so many laws by existing here and even being romantically attached to this particular vermin.
No matter her involvement to tear them apart, they still find a way to be together again. This particular vermin makes it even harder for him to leave. She was obsessively clingy and a major nuisance. He should have left many years ago, and whether they like to admit it or not, staying longer in this world where he doesn't belong—he only has a few days left before he vanishes and ceases to exist.
That's what happens to visitors that extend their stay in a land they don't belong or shouldn't belong to in the first place.
Her eyes returned to the most beautiful creature that ever existed–the perfect embodiment of beauty and elegance, a symbol of lust and countless unimaginable desires.
Truth be told, she still doesn't understand why he is so attached to this skinny flesh and blood lying dead in his arms. She was no match for him in any way. If the Demon Prince should acknowledge the fact that he is so lonely and needs someone by his side, he should definitely go for someone who is equally glamorous as he is.
You don't go for one that is beneath you in every way.
She was still trying to grasp this concept of their bond.
If anyone should be lying in his arms and be stared at by him in such a loving way, it should be her. She is not only beautiful but a God of the supernatural realm.
''She is dead,'' She spoke softly to him when he refused to loosen his arms around her by an inch. ''There, I have given you a reason to return home with me. The supernatural realm has been awfully boring now without its notorious Demon Prince.''
His hold tightened around her as he stared, silently begging her to return to him. She had always been a strong individual who has cheated death countless times. Though it was easier to achieve that feat when he was always behind her, guarding her form like an angel.
She mustn't die yet. He was not ready to lose her. Though, he was glad he was able to find a way to be visible to her moments before she met with death. If he had known God was planning to use this to her advantage to take her life, he wouldn't have revealed himself to her like that. Grabbing her attention in that way until she lost focus and cared less of her safety. He could bet everything in him that she did not know he was the last person she saw right before her death.
Her beloved Ree-ree.
Strangely, her body wasn't growing cold like he expected.
The Moon goddess realizes that and quickly places two of her manicured fingers on her forehead. She gasped at the weird mortal, pulling her hands away from her body.
''She is dead, but not dying.''
The King of Nightmares turned his head towards the God before him and frowned as she wasn't making any sense. The Moon goddess sighed softly.
''She is dead physically. All her organs and mortal form has shut down, but her soul is still trapped in there, refusing to perish along with the physical body.''
His head snapped back to her with a different emotion as hope shined through his eyes. He always knew deep down that she was much stronger than death. She couldn't be held down by that monster. He raised and had her lying on his chest, his arms wrapping around her waist, holding her still and close to himself.
The moon goddess obviously didn't like this sort of attachment. A mortal to a supernatural being, it was unheard of and against so many rules. She also feared deep down that it would also be the reason for his demise. He had to leave this world and return to where he truly belonged to now before it was too late.
She needs to find a way to lure him back to their realm.
Her emotionless gaze fell on them before she spoke to him in a serious tone. ''You know you don't have that much time left before you are being torn apart for interfering with the matters of this world?''
The Demon Prince didn't say anything but held on to his beloved, hoping she would resurrect. He had a feeling that it was still possible for her to wake up again since her soul lingered and was trapped in this material body, and he couldn't wait for that to happen.
The Moon goddess called out to his name when he didn't respond to her and that was when she thought of something smart that would bring him back to his world before he gets torn apart here.
