Dummy

She sat there on the soft and fluffy snow. It absorbed the heat from her body and was cold against her skin. She watched this hot enigma disappear into those dark overgrown trees that the snow had refused to touch. The brightly illuminated moon cast its light over her head, but stopped where the snow ended–just before the roots of the eerie trees.

She stared at the tree in silence, replaying his words and having this feeling to hold on to it.

I will come for you. I will find a way.

A wisp of cold breath left her slightly parted lips as she sat there staring at the trees like a dummy. She slowly tore her gaze from a part of this world that seemed forbidden, to stare at the wide lands that were completely covered and raining with snow. It was cold but oddly bearable.

Everything that should cause her pain or discomfort has been bearable which was not normal. No one should be able to withstand such harsh weather—not when you are dressed as if you would be called upon to swing your hips in front of people.

She figured this abnormal afterlife must be in winter, and she has unfortunately got herself stuck in the middle of nowhere! With no clue of what was happening and how she ended up inside the body of another.

She brought her legs to herself to examine her twisted ankle and was shocked to see it was better than when she first received the sharp feel of a joint shifting due to her insane jump. Normally, she should have died, but it felt like she couldn't even die no matter what.

She tried her luck in the normal world and woke up here. Now she was starting to be immune to pain, cold and other things that should herald death.

Charlotte sighed hard and deeply. A strand of her white locks falling at the sides of her face as she gazed at her bare feet.

She could give her life savings to someone if they had any logical answers to her question and could explain in detail what was currently happening to her.

Where was she?

Where was her original body she died in?

Where did the real occupant of this body go?

Don't tell me I chased away the real owner of this body just to live again?

Charlotte sighed in irritation. Her eyes closed in disbelief as nothing really made any sense. She then tried to remember all that happened before she gave in to the cold arms of death. Maybe there was something important she was missing that might give her a clue as to what just happened.

She moved her head sideways, trying her best to make sense of her blurry memories of her past life.

Her eyes opened with a small start when she could not remember anything. It was like every single fun and terrible thing she went through before she died was erased from her memory card.

Or did it crash the moment she was supposed to die?

How did I even die…?

Her eyes began to water as her head spinned, accompanied by a pounding headache—preventing her from digging deep into her blurry memories.

She was just thankful for the little bits she was able to recall. And a major part of that bit involved her dearest Ree-ree.

Charlotte sighed in relief while placing a hand on her chest.

That's right. It would be insane not to remember anything about him when she once swore not to. Although her memories had been blurring out since her previous life, it was not as bad as it is now. All she knew was that she had a life before this and this was not how the world looked like. The moon wasn't this big and this style of dressing was definitely outdated and strange. She didn't even look this gorgeous to begin with. She wanted to die to be with someone she loved so much—fortunately for her, she met with death, but death was disappointing when it instead took her to a fantasy world where everything seemed so unreal rather than taking her to be with Ree-ree forever.

Not to talk of the fact of being chased by a wild and crazy caveman like how it feels watching a lion run after a deer on Nat geo wild when you are bored and have no job to take care of. Then an entity who was powerful enough to shame any model existing comes to her rescue.

If this is all just another insane dream of hers, then she needs to wake up!

Charlotte gathered all the energy left in her body and rose to her feet.

She needs to wake up back in her original world then die properly so she could travel to that world where Ree-ree dwells with a physical form, and they could live happily ever after like she planned.

She paused in her movement when she felt something move in her. It was that strange feeling again. She first noticed it when she woke up in that room. It felt like…

The sound of a thousand paws thundering on the snow-covered ground resonated in her. Even though she could not see anything, the sound, and the feeling was closer than she could see. She turned left and right and tried to make sense of where the sound was coming from. The more that feeling in her grew, it felt overwhelming positively as the sound became more audible.

A few hundred feet from where she stood, her glacial eyes moved as she spotted wolves twice the size of the normal wolves you see on Nat geo wild coming at her in full speed. The sinking sound of a howl had her moving back in fear as her heart began to race at their number. They seemed to be targeting her—all one hundred of them, and it was scary to know all the wolves in this land had their eyes on her for dinner.

Charlotte didn't wait for them to get close. She turned on her heels and ran for her dear life.
