Am I?

Queen Luna entered the grand chamber with her personal maids trailing behind her. Her regal demeanor faltered the moment her eyes fell upon the chaos before her. Her daughter was bent over, retching violently as her best friends fumbled to help.

''What is going on here?''

She asked in which they all stilled. Her precious daughter is still stuck in that position of disgust.

''Both of you, leave. Now,'' She ordered with no room to say otherwise.

Layla and Sisi fear that they have been caught by the person who warned them to give her daughter space until she is ready to play around with them. She'd just run away from her mate in the middle of her mating ceremony for reasons yet unclear to everyone, and she was caught running desperately into the dungeons also known as the realm of demons. They both scrambled from the princess's bed and left the room as fast as they could, pausing before the Queen Luna to give her a small polite bow, while mumbling a few words that they were sorry.

Astha narrowed her eyes at the both of them in displeasure. She would need to have a word with her best friend on making sure her pups are obedient to simple instructions at all times.

Queen Luna sighed before hurrying to her daughter's aid like a flash, ordering the maids following behind her like a shadow to clean the mess. She brought her daughter to sit upright before pulling her in her motherly arms.

The maids quickly went on their knees with a towel and a bowl to clean the floors. Charlotte fell numbly into this woman's arms. She was learning to know her as her mother in this strange world of supernatural beings.

How come they never imagined werewolves existed in another dimension?

Do werewolves know of their existence?

Humans that are not bothered not having a magical necklace for clothing or the will to take the shape of an animal. Humans with broken dreams, striving to fit perfectly into a system that favors only a small percentage of their kind.

''I know it must be hard on you realizing your mistake, sweetheart.''

Charlotte stiffened, unaccustomed to such sweet pet names. She had always hated her plain name, especially after learning her father had named her after their bitter grandmother who died when she was ten.

''I almost accidentally rejected your father when I was still young and a stupid wolf.'' The feel of her soft hands gently caressing the strands of her hair brought something you would call life inside of her. The woman stared at her like she was the only thing she cherished most in this world of shape shifters. ''The moon goddess punished me severely with a strange sickness for not being grateful to her gift of mates and I had no choice but to let your father mark me and only then did I find peace.''

Evangeline's eyes widened at the horror of being struck with a disease by a God who robbed people of the chance of genuinely falling in love with someone before paring them up. The fact that she once listened to her—Evangeline's silly love prayer to pair her with such an animal like Alpha Jack of the Taggering Teeth pack was absurd. That dude was a monster high on drugs and consumed by lust!

''I was one of those wolves that stupidly believed in love without being paired up. But after I was marked by your father, then I realized the goodness of the Moon goddess. That love only existed once you are being marked by your mate.''

It is obvious these people are so susceptible to the brainwashing of this God. She loved Ree-ree without being paired together by the fucking goddess of the moon. She loved him dearly without even knowing whether he is real or not—-well, she chose to love by faith and not by sight anyway.

She and this beautiful woman who could perfectly be mistaken as a goddess herself stared at each other for the longest time before a soft smile appeared on her lips.

''Your father was the best Mate. He loved me—he loved us. And he swore to the moon to forever put his family above every other thing.''

That sounded like what every other average father in her world would say to appear responsible—although, she shouldn't be quick to judge this man…her werewolf father.

He might be different and generous in terms of showing his fatherly affection, just like this woman has been to her since they met.

It somehow felt like a dream come true. To have a mother who genuinely cared for you and not try to convince you that you are schizophrenic.

''Am I…'' Evangeline trailed off softly, causing her hands to be enveloped completely by this woman's hands. It didn't feel cold and distant like how it used to be when her mother held on to her hands in her past life. Somehow, she leaned towards it and never wanted to depart from this feeling.

''What is it?''

She melted once again and was starting to feel like maybe this could be heaven. But in a different, strange and absurd way.

The real owner of this body must have it all. Based on what she had gathered so far, about her was that she had a loving mom and responsible werewolf parents that would run along with a hundred wolves to bring her back home safely to them.

She had two ghost-like friends who cared, and she was basically a princess in this world. Talk about having a happily ever after in this setting!

The God or moon they held with so much respect must have also liked and favored her enough to grant her the wish of pairing her up with the exact man she wanted. Even though that caveman was complete trash, but still—she had everything a girl like her struggled to have.

But there was one thing that sets them apart; Ree-ree.

Evangeline wasn't blessed with a loving and faithful imaginary lover Charlotte believed so much to be real.
