Chapter 10: The Predator Becomes Prey
---
Adam remained perched on the sturdy branch of a tall tree, his form almost merging with the shadows of the dense canopy.
Adam is here hiding himself so that he doesn't get spotted by those monsters and can execute his plan without any trouble.
Below him, the Fang Wolf Alpha loomed, a creature that seemed to radiate both ferocity and exhaustion.
Its jet-black fur glistened faintly with sweat, and its crimson eyes burned with an unyielding fury.
Surrounding it, three wounded Fang Wolves staggered uneasily, their battered bodies evidence of a relentless struggle.
Seeing this scene, Adam can tell that there is a fight going on between these wolves and he has come here by mistake in the meantime, but he will not go from here so easily without taking advantage.
A faint breeze carried the metallic scent of blood to Adam's nostrils, sharpening his focus.
His gaze shifted to the loot chests scattered around the battlefield. Their faint glow was a stark contrast to the grim scene, a silent testament to the carnage that had unfolded here.
By looking at those loot chests, Adam can tell that all these must be Fung Wolf who must be fighting this boss monster and got finally killed, Adam will not leave from here at all after seeing these loot chests.
"So, this Alpha has already been busy," Adam thought, a calculating smile tugging at his lips. "It's taken down other wolves before I got here."
Seeing this, Adam starts smiling and a naughty idea starts forming in his mind. Adam says in his mind, "I will get a lot of loot here."
As if on cue, a blue system window materialized in Adam's vision, detailing the Alpha's stats:

Adam studied the data, his smirk widening. The beast's HP was a fraction of its maximum, and its strained breathing confirmed its vulnerability. "You're not as invincible as you look," Adam muttered under his breath. "This fight's already drained you."
Adam is completely confident that he will take advantage of this fight, once the boss monster gets tired he will attack him and come out as the biggest winner in this whole situation.
The three injured Fang Wolves exchanged wary glances, their bodies coiled with tension.
Despite their wounds, they were far from defeated.
With a burst of feral determination, the first wolf lunged at the Alpha, its jaws snapping viciously.
The Alpha sidestepped with surprising agility, but before it could retaliate, the second wolf darted in from behind.
Its fangs sank deep into the Alpha's flank, eliciting a thunderous snarl of pain.
The Alpha twisted violently, its claws raking across the ground as it flung the second wolf aside.
The third wolf, seeing an opening, charged at the Alpha's hindquarters. Its attack forced the Alpha to stumble, its HP ticking down visibly on Adam's interface.
"Good," Adam thought, his eyes narrowing. "Keep wearing it down for me."
Adam reached into his belt and pulled out a polished dagger. The blade felt reassuringly cool against his palm.
He weighed his options carefully. The wounded wolves were an opportunity, but they were still potential threats. His decision was clear.
"Why stop at the Alpha?" he whispered. "I'll claim all of them."
Sliding the dagger back into its sheath, Adam retrieved a handful of sharp stones he had collected earlier.
He activated the stealth mode embedded in his outfit, his body blending seamlessly into the shadows.
With practiced movements, he repositioned himself on a higher branch, ensuring a clear line of sight to his targets.
Below, the Alpha roared, a sound that reverberated through the forest. Its red eyes burned brighter as it spun to face its attackers.
The second wolf, dazed but not defeated, launched itself at the Alpha once more.
The Alpha responded with brutal efficiency, its massive jaws snapping shut around the wolf's neck.
A sickening crunch echoed through the clearing as the wolf went limp in the Alpha's grip.
The third wolf didn't hesitate, leaping onto the Alpha's back and raking its claws down the beast's spine.
The Alpha howled in pain, thrashing violently to dislodge its attacker.
Then, with a deep inhale, the Alpha unleashed a devastating skill. Its mouth opened wide, and a powerful blast of compressed air erupted from its jaws.
The shockwave slammed into the third wolf, sending it tumbling across the ground. A jagged wound opened on its hind leg, and the wolf collapsed, whimpering in pain.
From his vantage point, Adam observed the attack with a mixture of awe and calculation. "So, that's its skill," he murmured. The Alpha was formidable, but its dwindling stamina was becoming increasingly apparent.
Seeing his moment, Adam focused on the wounded third wolf. He whispered, "Mark." A glowing red symbol appeared above the wolf's head.
Drawing back his arm, Adam hurled one of his stones with deadly precision.
The sharp projectile sliced through the air, striking the wolf squarely on its head. The impact was fatal, the wolf crumpling to the ground in a lifeless heap.

Adam allowed himself a brief moment of satisfaction before redirecting his focus. The Alpha was still unaware of its fallen subordinate, too preoccupied with the remaining wolf.
The Alpha turned its attention to the final wolf, its growls echoing with renewed ferocity. Blood dripped from its flanks, pooling beneath its paws.
Despite its exhaustion, the beast's sheer presence remained imposing.
Meanwhile, Adam crouched lower, his eyes fixed on the Alpha. His remaining dagger felt reassuring in his grip, its weight promising precision and lethality.
"This is it," Adam thought, his heart pounding with anticipation. "Time to end this."
The chapter concluded with Adam perched high above, his mind sharp and his movements calculated, as he prepared to turn the chaos below into his ultimate victory.
