Chapter 21

Sophie Lawrence's reaction was so strange that Henry Mitchell couldn't help frowning.

"What are you hiding?" Henry Mitchell asked.

Sophie Lawrence immediately tensed up. The express delivery and the porridge that had just arrived suddenly flashed through her mind, and she immediately said, "A parcel has arrived for you. I put it in the Ink - Fragrance Pavilion."

Henry Mitchell looked behind Sophie Lawrence and walked towards the Ink - Fragrance Pavilion.

Watching Henry Mitchell's back, Sophie Lawrence suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. She quickly folded the document and stuffed it into the bottom drawer of the dressing table. The document seemed like a secret that must not be discovered, and her movements were a little flustered and hurried, with her fingers trembling slightly.

As soon as she had finished all this, Henry Mitchell walked in with the express delivery box he had just received.

He handed the box to Sophie Lawrence and said calmly, "It's a tape recorder."

Sophie Lawrence was stunned for a moment and slowly reached out to take it.

Henry Mitchell turned around and continued to tidy up the room following the steps Sophie Lawrence had been doing before. His movements were methodical, and each movement carried a natural elegance.

Seeing Sophie Lawrence still standing there in a daze, Henry Mitchell frowned and gently urged, "Aren't you going to take a bath?"

Only then did Sophie Lawrence come to her senses. She immediately put down the box, took her clothes and went into the bathroom. Her thoughts were still circling around the nervousness she had just felt, and her heart was like a fawn running wild in her chest.

When Sophie Lawrence came out of the bathroom, Henry Mitchell had already tidied up the bedroom completely and was tidying up in the living room.

Sophie Lawrence wiped her still - wet hair, blew it a few times casually and then put down the hair dryer. She went out to tidy up with Henry Mitchell.

As soon as Sophie Lawrence picked up the blanket scattered on the sofa, Henry Mitchell snatched it away.

Immediately, a cold and low voice rang in her ear: "Dry your hair completely before you come." Henry Mitchell's eyes were filled with unwavering determination.

Sophie Lawrence glanced at the hair hanging on the side of her face and said casually, "It's okay. It will dry naturally soon."

However, Henry Mitchell remained unmoved, his eyes looking straight at Sophie Lawrence, as if there was an invisible pressure in his eyes.

Feeling a little guilty under his gaze, Sophie Lawrence had to return to the bathroom and dry her hair. While drying her hair, she was thinking about Henry Mitchell's attitude today. She felt that he seemed more unpredictable than before.

By the time the two of them had finished tidying up the house, it was already past 7 p.m.

"Goo - goo -" Sophie Lawrence's stomach suddenly growled, which was particularly obvious in the quiet living room.

Henry Mitchell looked up at her, and Sophie Lawrence couldn't help blushing. She thought this sound was extremely embarrassing at this moment.

Remembering that the ingredients in the refrigerator at home had gone bad and could no longer be used, Henry Mitchell took out his mobile phone and clicked into the food - delivery app.

He handed the phone to Sophie Lawrence and said coldly, "What do you want to eat? Order it yourself."

Sophie Lawrence was stunned when she saw the phone in front of her. Instantly, some past scenes flashed through her mind.

Henry Mitchell frowned and said, "Not hungry anymore?"

Sophie Lawrence shook her head and immediately reached out to take the phone.

When she saw Henry Mitchell walking towards the bedroom, Sophie Lawrence subconsciously asked, "Aren't you going to eat?"

Henry Mitchell gave a light "Hmm " and then directly closed the bedroom door. Sophie Lawrence looked at the closed door, and a complex emotion welled up in her heart. There was a sense of loss as well as helplessness.

Sophie Lawrence randomly ordered a few stir - fried dishes and then paid directly.

When entering the payment password, Sophie Lawrence's mind drifted away for a moment.

She knew all of Henry Mitchell's passwords.

Once upon a time, she could freely control everything in Henry Mitchell's life, including his mobile phone, salary card, and bank card. At that time, she felt as if she was the most important part of Henry Mitchell's life, and their relationship was so intimate.

But she didn't know since when Henry Mitchell had taken back all these privileges.

The last time she had ordered takeaway with Henry Mitchell's phone like this was already a long time ago. Every subtle change was like a tiny crack, slowly eroding the once seemingly indestructible relationship between them.

When Sophie Lawrence entered the room after finishing her meal, Henry Mitchell was already asleep.

She placed the phone on Henry Mitchell's side of the bedside table and then got into bed from the other side. She was very quiet, for fear of waking Henry Mitchell up, and at the same time, she felt a bit empty - hearted.

...

The next morning, Sophie Lawrence got up and returned to the Fire Brigade Station at a little after six o'clock.

Henry Mitchell didn't wake up until a little after seven o'clock. By then, he was the only one left at home.

Looking at the empty house, Henry Mitchell lowered his eyes and rubbed his eyebrows. There was a hint of loneliness in his eyes. Although he had long been used to this situation, every time, an indescribable emotion would still well up in his heart.

Fire Brigade Station.

Sophie Lawrence summarized the situations encountered during this earthquake relief operation and submitted the report. Her expression was serious and focused, and every word was her profound experience during the relief operation.

Then, as usual, she organized the team members to carry out routine training. Her voice was loud and powerful as she directed the team members to perform various training movements.

At a little after six o'clock in the afternoon, William in the Reception Hall suddenly found Sophie Lawrence and said, "Captain Sang, there's a call for you."

In the Reception Hall, Sophie Lawrence picked up the receiver and said, "Hello."

Soon, a familiar voice came from the receiver: "Mom said we should go back today. I'll come and pick you up later." Henry Mitchell's voice came from the receiver, calm but with an irresistible force.

Sophie Lawrence suddenly clenched the receiver tightly, her expression a little flustered, and she replied softly, "Okay."

Generally, when Henry Mitchell said "our mother", he was referring to Sophie Lawrence's mother; when he simply said "Mom", he was referring to his own mother.

After that, with a "beep", Henry Mitchell hung up the phone.

After coming out of the Reception Hall, Sophie Lawrence lost the mood for training. Her heart seemed to be weighed down by a big stone, full of worry and uneasiness.

Henry Mitchell arrived very quickly. It took him less than half an hour.

Sophie Lawrence waited on the roadside with her head down. When she saw Chloe Morgan in the passenger seat, her face instantly froze. A look of surprise and pain flashed through her eyes as if she had seen the last thing she wanted to see.
