Just Friends I Guess

I held my husband's harm. He looked at me, then back at them "We will be out for a moment." he said then led me out of the room.

Outside of the room he asked me, "You are really pregnant?" I nodded my head for a yes as he hugged me tightly. He then stroked my belly saying "I am daddy little angel. We are all eager to meet you." He held my hand and walked me to the gynecology office. After various tests the doctor got out and said "Congratulations your pregnant madam." My husband exploded with joy walking around the chamber. His joy reflected twinkles in his eyes as he smiled and laughed, I couldn't help smiling at him. "Thank you doctor." I said standing up. The doctor smiled at us bidding us goodbye as we walked out of the office.

We went back to Annaelle's room, she was already dressed up ready to leave the hospital. My husband did not wait a second, as we entered the room he exploded with joy saying "We have an addition to the family."

Annaelle, who was packing her bag, stopped and looked at us. She joined my husband in his excitement and congratulated us "Yes! I knew it." she exclaimed.

My husband's mother came up to us and asked, "Did you guys go for an ultrasound?", "We did mom." My husband held his mother's hands, she smiled. His grandmother gave me a hug saying "Congratulations Irina.". I had to tell my parents, and inform my friends, but at the time I was just wondering how Micheal and Lune would react to this news. We had a brief conversation about it before.

"Ini, you shouldn't be scared, he said he would love you, please trust him." Lune begged of me, as I was crying in her arms.

His mother had just tried to destroy my marriage again. She had said to me earlier that day "My son already has a lover, he is only with you out of pride as she left to study abroad 3 years ago.", "If I were you I will get divorced quickly there is no need to waste your time on a man who doesn't love you. You will only end up being hurt.". She showed me pictures of Irem and another girl during their teen years. "She—she is my real daughter in law." she said. I wasn't hurt by her words at first, but they kept reverberating in my head the whole day. They ended up piercing my heart.

"Ini, stop crying, don't pay attention to what his mother says. He chose you and only you. Have faith in him please." Lune comforted me.

"Inira, I know my brother, if you guys have at least a second child together, he is more than serious about you. Don't think about what my aunt said. This marriage is between you and Irem, nobody else. " said Micheal. "Have faith Inira, faith in him, in your love story."

For me this pregnancy was more than just welcoming a child to this world, it was also the confirmation of Irem's love for me. After meeting Annaelle today I couldn't be more sure of his love, and their ordinary friendship.
