As the clock struck 3:00, Rania, Danish, Javed, and Rahil converged at the lab, their faces set with determination. However, Rahil's gaze swept the room, his eyes narrowing as he realized Rania was nowhere to be found.
"Where's Rania?" Rahil asked, his voice tinged with concern.
Danish shrugged. "Go check outside, maybe she's running late."
Rahil nodded and stepped out of the lab, but before he could take more than a few steps, Rania appeared, her cheeks flushed.
"You're late," Rahil said, his eyes locked on hers.
Rania smiled wryly. "I got stuck in traffic."
As they stepped back into the lab, Rania handed each of them a small Bluetooth device. "These will keep us connected. We can communicate with each other without being overheard."
The team nodded in unison, their faces set with determination.
Rania's gaze locked onto Danish. "Danish, put on this coat 🧥. It has a small camera 📸 embedded in it. It'll capture everything that happens."
Danish slipped on the coat, his eyes gleaming with understanding. He was ready to play his part in their daring plan.
Danish slipped on the coat, the weight of the embedded camera a reminder of the danger that lay ahead. With a deep breath, the team dispersed to their assigned locations.
Javed melted into the shadows near the cinema, his eyes scanning the crowded street. Rania took up her position near the shopping mall, her gaze darting back and forth as she watched for any sign of trouble.
Rahil stood outside the restaurant, his eyes locked on the entrance as he waited for any sign of the killer.
Mehwish turned to Danish, her eyes serious. "Here, take this dart," she said, pressing the small weapon into his hand. "It's the only one I could find."
Danish's eyes narrowed. "But what about you?"
Mehwish's smile was fleeting. "The killer's target is you, Danish. Not me. I'll be fine."
As the sun began to set, Danish and Mehwish strolled out of the cinema, the faint glow of the screen still lingering in their eyes. They had spent hours lost in the movie, the tension between them palpable.
"Let's head to the shopping mall," Danish suggested, his voice low and smooth.
Mehwish nodded, and they walked hand in hand to the mall. The hours ticked by, and they found themselves lost in the crowded corridors, the sound of laughter and chatter filling the air.
As the clock struck 8:00, they decided to leave. "I think we've wasted enough time," Danish said, his eyes scanning the crowded mall. "I don't think he's going to show up."
Mehwish's gaze met his, her eyes sparkling with a hint of amusement. "You never know," she whispered.
Just then, Rania's voice crackled over the Bluetooth device. "Guys, I think I've spotted something," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Danish's head snapped up, his eyes locking onto Mehwish's. "What is it, Rania?" he asked, his voice low and urgent.
"I'm on the other side of the mall," Rania replied, her voice steady. "I saw someone in a black mask and black clothes. His face is obscured, but I think he might be our guy."
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed over the device, followed by the sound of footsteps. "Rania, what's happening?" Mehwish's voice was laced with concern.
Rania's response was garbled, her words slurred. "I...I think I've been hit," she stammered.
A loud gunshot echoed over the device, followed by an eerie silence.
"None of us fired the shot," the team chimed in unison, their voices laced with concern.
Rahil's eyes locked onto Rania's still form. "Rania, can you hear me? Why aren't you responding?"
Javed's voice was tight with worry. "What if something's happened to her?"
Danish turned to Mehwish. "I think I left my car keys in the mall. I'll go grab them."
Mehwish nodded. "I'll go with you."
But Danish shook his head. "No, I'll be fine. You stay here with the others."
Mehwish's eyes narrowed, but she nodded. "Okay, be quick."
As Danish turned to leave, Mehwish followed him with her gaze. But before she could take a step, Rania stirred, her eyes fluttering open.
"I'm...I'm okay," Rania stammered, her voice weak but audible over the Bluetooth device.
Rahil's face relaxed in relief. "What happened? Why didn't you respond?"
But before Rania could answer, a loud, panicked cry echoed over the device. "Ahh! Oh my god!"
The team exchanged worried glances. "Danish, what's wrong?" Mehwish's voice was tight with concern.
But there was only silence.
Mehwish's heart skipped a beat as she heard Danish's panicked cry echoing over the Bluetooth device. She rushed to the mall entrance, but the doors refused to budge.
"What's happening, Rania?" Rahil's voice was laced with concern.
Rania's response was garbled, but Rahil didn't hesitate. He sprinted towards the mall, Rania hot on his heels.
As they burst through the doors, they spotted Danish struggling against a figure clad in black. A mask obscured the attacker's face, but Rahil and Rania didn't hesitate.
They charged towards the pair, but the attacker suddenly released Danish and took off down the deserted road. Rania's plan had worked – they had successfully funneled the killer into a trap.
Just then, Mehwish burst through the mall doors, her eyes scanning the chaos. "You two go after him!" she shouted to Rahil and Rania. "I'll take care of Danish!"
As Rahil and Rania took off in pursuit of the killer, Javed appeared out of nowhere. "I'm here! You two go – I'll help Mehwish with Danish!"
Rahil and Rania sprinted down the deserted road, their footsteps echoing off the pavement. But as they rounded a bend, Rania's foot caught on a loose stone, sending her tumbling to the ground.
"Are you okay?" Rahil shouted, skidding to a stop beside her.
Rania scrambled to her feet, her eyes blazing with determination. "Go after him! I'm fine!"
Rahil hesitated for a moment, then nodded and took off again. He pounded down the road, his heart racing with anticipation.
Finally, he reached the end of the road, where a crumbling wall loomed. Rahil's eyes narrowed as he spotted a gaping hole in the wall, partially hidden by a tangle of vines.
That must be where the killer escaped, Rahil thought, his mind racing.
As he approached the wall, a low voice called out from behind him. "Rahim."
Rahil's heart skipped a beat. How did this person know his real name? Only a handful of people had ever heard it.
He spun around, his eyes scanning the shadows. But before he could react, a blow struck him from behind, sending him crashing to the ground.
Everything went black.
