Skye's Perspective

"It wasn't intentional! My old friend just returned, and some people wanted to celebrate her arrival," Derick explained, sounding desperate.

"Skye, I only stayed briefly, I promise. I didn't do anything wrong. Let's go home, Skye. I've made time for us for an entire month. We can get married now, alright?"

When Derick tried to convince me, he was like a soft, harmless kitten. But I wasn't falling for it. Not at all.

"Derick, I might have wanted to marry you before," I responded coldly. "But I've changed my mind. Marriage is off the table."

He gazed at me in shock, his eyes welling up. "I... I can't believe it."

"Derick," I said, my tone firm and cutting, "when I was ready for marriage, you dismissed me. Weren't you already committed to Alanna? Are you trying to have it both ways?"
