102: Find the source- Part 3

Without warning, the chimera straightened. Its molten red eye glowed brighter, and the dark energy around it surged. The wounds Sophia had inflicted healed instantly, the cracks in its scales sealing as if nothing had happened.

Sophia's breath hitched.

"Oh, that's not good."

The chimera let out a guttural growl before raising its massive arms. The air around them vibrated as the beast prepared to bring its claws down upon her.

Sophia's body froze. There was no time to move, no time to counter. A flicker of genuine panic crossed her face.

"Shit! Why won't this beast take what it is given lying down?"

She complained just as the beast's claws came down. A golden barrier flashed into existence around her, saving her life.
