Chapter 17: The Labyrinth of Shadows
As Dante and his team made their way to the ancient temple beneath the Black City, they found themselves at the entrance to a labyrinth. The walls vibrated with dark energy, and the atmosphere settled over them, sending a deep sense of dread.
Lucian stepped forward, checking his daggers. "I am certain Zephyr is not waiting for us here. This is his defensive line. But there is something in the labyrinth… and it is watching us."
Kaelene looked around carefully, holding her magic sword tightly. "This spell seems familiar. It seems like Oblivion's energy is trapped here."
Ryker pulled out one of his devices and scanned the walls. "There are things moving here. Shadows… like ghosts. But they can attack physically."
Dante drew both of his pistols and spoke calmly. "If they attack, we will encase them in their shadows."

Battle of the Shadows
Deep in the labyrinth, the team was attacked by a group of Shadow Wraiths. These creatures had human silhouettes but were made entirely of shadows. Although they would disperse when hit with weapons, they would quickly reunite.
Kaelene cut one wraith in half with her magic sword. "These things can't reunite forever. Magic-enhanced attacks work!"
Ryker used his energy blasters and dispersed a group. "But that's not fast enough. More are coming!"
Dante quickly fired his pistols, neutralizing most of the attacking wraiths. However, more were emerging from the depths of the labyrinth.
Lucian planned an attack from the shadows. "If we can find the center of this labyrinth, we can destroy the power that drives them."
The team continued to advance while fending off the wraiths' attacks. However, they encountered more traps and creatures with each step.

Temple Guards
As they neared the end of the labyrinth, they reached a temple sealed by huge doors. In front of the doors were two Temple Guards equipped with armor. These guards were skilled in both physical and magical attacks.
Kaelene blocked one guard's attack with her shield and shouted at Dante. "These armors are too strong! We must attack together!"
Dante shot at one of the guards and ran towards the other. "Let's finish this quickly!"
Lucian moved behind a guard from the shadows and tried to find a weak point. He used his dagger to stab it through the armor. The guard was weakened, but he quickly recovered and attacked.
Ryker threw an energy device under one of the guards. The explosion did not shatter the armor, but it did knock him off balance. "The armor is almost impossible to break! But we can slow them down."
Kaelene stunned one of the guards with a magical attack. Dante took the opportunity to fire his pistols right at the weak point of the armor, destroying the guard.
The last guard was felled by Kaelene and Lucian's coordinated attack. The doors opened and the team entered the temple.

Zephyr's Sanctuary
In the center of the temple, Zephyr stood before a massive stone altar. He held a scroll and a sphere glowing with dark magic. Some of the energy left over from Oblivion swirled inside the sphere.
Zephyr turned to Dante and his team. His eyes glowed with dark energy. "I knew you would come this far. But this will be your end. With the Dark Lord's power, I am now invincible!"
Dante took a step forward, aiming his pistols. "No matter how much power you gain, you will always have an end. And it will be now."
Zephyr lifted the sphere into the air and the temple began to shake. "Come on, Dante! Prepare to disappear into the shadows!"

With his newfound power, Zephyr was stronger than ever. Inside the temple, Dante and his team prepared to engage in a deadly battle with Zephyr, while shadows and dark energy began to surround them.
