" wait let me get this straight, for you"
Blake points at himself
" I'm Neil and that is my colleague Blake." The organisation sent me for your complaints.
" Yes I understand that but from what I've heard about Neil he's... Of a different... Charisma. It's why I specifically requested him."
" And here I am or do you think i don't have a different charisma?" He asked passing it like a threat. He was smiling at the shorter man so to Mr Klaus he was basically saying ' take it like that, no buts'
The man was stuck and he knew it.
" So what is Mr Blake doing here?"
" He helps keep me company sometimes and he's the reason why most of my jobs go so successfully"
With little choice or concern he tells them that the device is located in the third floors 5th room on the left. He explains that there's also been several reports of a rattling sound coming from the ventilation.
...
On the stairs
" Who does he think we are? Repair men". Scoff, Blake is annoyed by the man, partly because he gave them extra work but mostly because he requested they left their weapons outside. He had said " this is a high profile establishment and the guests should not be disturbed for any reason, least of all there safety should not be made to look any less than it is"
" What a c*nt "
Neil hadn't said a word since the man showed up. Blake wasn't too worried but he still had to ask.
" Hey, What's wrong with you?"
Neil raises his head and looks at Blake, he seems to have been crying or at least was on the verge of crying.
" I haven't had my cup of tea yet"
"Huh. What do you mean by that?"
Composing himself and even adding an air of sophistication.
" Exactly what I said Mr Blake. I require my tea before engaging in any official duty"
Blake looks him over then sighs.
" Then go get some. I think there should be a breakfast place around here, plus when you're returning bring my axe would ya "
" And how would I bring it in"
" The window. Don't tell me that you don't know how to scale a wall?"
" Fine. Make sure to not touch anything till I get back but if you can handle it then make a report so when I get back we can leave."
Without pause Neil goes back down the way he came.
' that guy, drags me along then makes me do all the work ' cursing under his breath he continues moving.
.....
' tea is something I take very seriously. So seriously, that some people call it an addiction. Today I realise how right they are '
It didn't take Neil long to find the breakfast place since he had basically run around looking for it.
Normally no one comes to such an establishment by this time but when something must be done it gets done.
Neil eased into a stroll once he was really close to the door he wanted to take the time to check how much cash he was with.
' If not for my gentlemanly nature and the habit of putting fifty dollars into my pockets I might not have had cash on me '
The bell above the front door rings and gives a serene ringing sound that could almost be mistaken for a person's voice impersonation.
Inside, Neil walked to the farthest seat in the room from the door and sat down. He would have preferred to be polite and walked to the counter and made his order directly but due to the bell the person attending to it was already coming to him.
The lady in a brown dress and white appron smiled at him and asked for his order.
" Do you have tea, any kind would be fine "
"We do. If that's all, I'll be right back sir "
She walks away slowly. Neil watches the lady walk away and smiles.
' she seems to have a problem with her legs. From her posture and face I can tell that it's a bother but if she's still on her feet now instead of in a hospital then it's probably due to the lack of money. I'll remember to tip her well before I leave.'
Getting up from his chair he walks to the counter and waits there. The lady notices him as she sets the water to boil.
"you don't need to wait here sir, once it's done I'll bring it to your table"
" Ooh but this should be more comfortable for you or do you not like being watched while working?"
" It's not that, I'd prefer that you don't bother yourself for no reason."
" But I do have a reason" he looks at her legs and lifts his head back to face her.
" If you'd like that, suit yourself but I'll have you know my legs won't be a problem with my service "
" I agree, it doesn't seem to severe but I'll rather not have you straining it on my behalf "
He smiles at her. She looks at him for a moment then looks back to the water.
.....
Blake found the room rather easily. It was an actual room not just a closet or small store. The room seemed to be frequently used.
He had a habit of surveying any new place, especially when he was likely to fight in such places. The walls were semi concrete, probably made with the synthetic material that most buildings were made of. One side of the wall, however, was completely glass, so it gave an overall feeling of being on top of the world. Looking down from it Blake could imagine the fall from here. It was something any ordinary person won't want to experience, it wasn't lethal, if treated immediately but it would definitely shatter bones.
' meh. Stylish but lacks the essential toilet so I'll pass'
The device was in a box on the wall facing the bed.
It wasn't locked so he just flipped open the cover. The device within was of very high quality but something was wrong.
' this must have been expensive, especially since it can be used severally. The crystal However, it doesn't look like what should be in something of such high quality. He probably got a fake.'
Crystals used in storing energy are the same as the ones used in scanning it. Only crystals used by operatives are different. Theirs is usually easier to break and cheaper since operatives destroyed theirs frequently to use the energy within. The crystal they used wasn't designed to last long as on average it's destroyed within three months.
The owner of the hotel probably didn't know how major this was. The crystal in the device was fully charged and was leaking due to the constant influx by the device and the people in the hotel. Not just that, it was broken.
' fuck ' looking at the crystal he couldn't help but frown.
' somethings taken a bite out of this '
