" pa.pa." The little girl said looking up at her dad. " Mummy says I'm going to resume school today."
Simon looks at his daughter and smiles.
" Yeah, you'll get to make new friends today."
" Like Mia and David?" She asks delighted.
" Yeah"
" Okay. But what if I don't want to go to school today?"
" You have to go to school today, you've already missed part of the term."
" I want to stay, home. With you and, mummy."
She was making a face. She was trying to frown, the way she's seen her mum do.
" No. Your still going to have to go to school and that's non negotiable."
" Nu. Nun ne." She had completely forgotten about her complaint and was currently occupied with the new big word her dad used.
Simon stands back upright and looks to the door behind his daughter. His wife is smiling at the two.
" Mummy!!" The little girl squels. She runs to her mum. " Daddy gave me a new Word."
The beautiful woman looks at the child but stays standing.
" Ooh, and what is it?"
" Nu nun. Ne. Ni"
" Non negotiable." Her father says coming closer to the duo.
" The way she clings to you when you're in a room. I'll never understand the automatic preference for their mothers."
" Well she sees me more and we chat together about a lot when we can and most obvious of all she noticed that she looks like me"
" I'm starting to consider dropping work so I can steal her to my side" he chuckles
" Yeah about that, aren't you supposed to resume today. I doubt they'll consider giving you extra time just because you transferred your family."
The little girl, lost , decided to interrupt.
" Yeah daddy's late. Go!"
" I don't want to make my boss angry." Addressing his wife, " whatever you need text me"
Simon started leaving then remembering something he turned back. His face had returned to it's normal stern expression.
" Be careful. The humanoid is in this city, meaning the threat to our lives is higher"
His wife still smiling, without looking up from her little girl.
" Then go. Do your job. Keep us safe"
...
Neil had just received a message. A hotel downtown suspects an interference with their energy detecting and containment unit. Normally such would be handled by a different department but the hotel was high profile so the likelihood of something happening was high.
' I'd just finished getting my tea cup ready. Ooh well, duty calls. I wonder if Blake would like to come along'
" Probably. He's been looking for action since"
...
Damien was bored. He didn't have much to do.
' I joined the organisation mostly to help people but also because I'm usually bored '
Looking around his house he thought wether or not to clean his house.
' nah, besides Clare's probably going to do it later. Where even is she'
About to leave the door he stops and thinks.
' she's probably going to try and prank me or something else, something probably worse. Sigh '
Without having a definite thing to do yet he just lounges on his sofa.
' where is that book. What was it's name.'
" Ah. Yes."
Stretching his arm under his chair he searches for the book. He feels and pulls out several books but non of them are what he wants, probably. He isn't sure, he pulls out a particular book and thinks about it for a while.
Shrugging his shoulders he dusts the top of a book.
'EDCU. Specialy designed by the mai clan. Upgraded and made more diverse over the years it retains it's fundamental purpose, to read the average amount of energy in it's Range and channeling excessive amounts of it by using a mixture of chemicals and a grinder to turn it semi solid. It should be changed and checked within intervals depending on the make.'

Blake was already considering throwing his axe at the store's front door. He didn't have a reason why but that shows you how bored he is. Neil arrives in time to stop Blake from doing something stupid.
' what does this guy want? Can't he see I'm in the middle of making a decision?'
Gripping the handle of his custom axe harder he faces the older man.
" What!" He tries to look threatening but the expression on Neil's face tells it's not working.
" I've been given a mission. Thought to rub it in your face"
" You can see I'm holding this..." He nudges his head to his axe "is it wise to antagonise me"
" Of course it is, especially when you make threats that I can handle with relative ease."
" Can the people going into that store handle it?"
The civilians walking by turn and face the man holding the axe, slowly a teen previously with his phone in his face turns around and walks away from the store, immediately the rest follow suit.
" Ooh look you've scared the people away"
" And?"
" Well I don't want to be the only person standing here so how bout we take this somewhere where I can see actual people."
Blake felt like chopping of the head of the man but knowing he couldn't he shrugged and started walking.
" So what's the assessment?"
" Wow, so formal. And with that look on your face I don't think you need this"
Immediately recognising the threat of being left behind he changes his deamenor to desperation.
" Okay fine I won't ask questions"
" Good. If you chicken out later, I won't allow you tag along with me on my missions"
Considering it for a moment blake shrugs.
' there's nothing that'll make me run'
...
Blake wanted to leave.
It was just a routine check plus management's complaints. He would be bored out of his mind.
He looked at Neil with contempt.
' The sneaky old bastard played me'
After remembering how much he enjoyed Neil's missions he decided to stay.
" Where's the manager? " He looks to Neil.
Neil looks back and shrugs, the receptionist answers his question.
" Mr Klaus is coming, he's currently handling a high profile occupant."
After a while they hear footsteps approaching.
