At last, Xena gave up waiting for my response. She gazed at me expectantly and stated, "Let's head home together later."
I was about to decline when Remy approached, reeking of alcohol.
He casually seized Xena's hand.
"Snow, what brings you here? After dinner, let's go shopping for new bedding."
Xena glanced at me apologetically, attempting unsuccessfully to free her hand from Remy's grasp.
She carefully clarified, "We've known each other since childhood and this is how we typically interact. It's purely platonic, like siblings."
I nodded in acknowledgment. "I see."
Remy tugged her hand again and said, "I had a few extra drinks and I'm feeling dizzy. Just accompany me to buy and replace the bedding. I vomited on the bed last night and made a mess. If I don't change it, I'll have nowhere to sleep tonight."
Xena looked at him with exasperation. "Stop pulling. I'll go with you."
Xena had once told me she despised people who drank.
