I said, "I've completed my handover, so there's no need for me to go to work tomorrow. I'd like to have a farewell dinner with some close coworkers tonight. You should attend your friend's birthday celebration."
After hearing this, Xena stopped insisting on joining me. She hesitantly asked, "If you're not going, should I actually ask Remy to come along?"
I nodded with a smile. "Feel free to invite him."
Xena carefully examined my expression for any hint of jealousy, but she was destined to be disappointed.
"You're really not jealous at all?" she couldn't resist asking.
I found it puzzling. Hadn't she always disliked my jealousy before? Now that I wasn't jealous as she had wanted, she seemed uneasy.
"What's there to be jealous about? You've said you're like siblings. Plus, he gets on well with your friends. It's natural for you to go together."
Xena started to speak but then remained silent. She simply advised, "Don't stay out late. If you drink, call me and I'll come get you."
