Mrs. Harrington continued to chatter on and on, speaking in a rambling manner typical of a doting mother deeply concerned for her child.
Her words trailed off as they reached my ears, but my vision had already blurred long before I realized it.
I thought to myself that I must have the worst biological parents in the whole world.
But then I met Jaxon, and found such a wonderful partner and family, making up for all my regrets.
Four years of college had finally come to an end.
Jaxon and I had successfully transitioned from classmates to legally married spouses with a marriage license.
Actually, we hadn't planned on having a big ceremony. I'm not one for crowds and just wanted to quietly get our license somewhere small.
But Jaxon disagreed.
He said marriage is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and he wanted to give me all the ceremonial experiences I deserved.
So now we're in the planning stages.
