They Will Bid

Chapter 31: They Will Bid

"Stay away from me! You thief! I remember everything…yo-you…."

"Gabriel, please, let me explain—" Diane reached out, but Gabriel shoved her hand away.

"Explain? There's nothing to explain." His voice was so icy, each word felt like a dagger.

Without another glance, he turned on his heel and went to his car.

"Gabriel, wait!" Diane called.

But her pleas fell on deaf ears.

He slammed the car door shut, the engine roared to life, and within moments, he was gone, leaving a cloud of dust in his wake.

Micha, who had been observing the scene with keen interest, sauntered over, a grin appeared on his lips.

 "Trouble in paradise, rabbit?"

Diane gave him a withering look.

"This is none of your concern, Micha."

"Oh, but it seems quite the spectacle. Care to share what's got dear Gabriel so riled up?"

"I said, it's none of your business." Diane left no room for argument.
