Chapter 65: A Lesson in Power
Diane drove Arthur to school herself.
It was the first time since the incident with Isla's son and his friends.
Arthur sat quietly in the backseat, playing with the strap of his backpack, refusing to look at her through the rearview mirror.
Diane sighed. She had expected this.
He was still distant, still unsure of where she stood in his world. But she wasn't going to let him face these battles alone.
When they arrived at Rosewood Academy, Diane walked him to the entrance, her eyes quickly checked the crowds of students.
And then, she saw Isla's son.
The boy was with a group of other students, laughing loudly about something as if he hadn't bullied Arthur for weeks.
The moment Thomas saw her, his laughter died, and his posture stiffened.
"Thomas," Diane greeted smoothly.
Thomas swallowed, shifting himself uncomfortably. "What do you want?"
