Quincy gazed at me with a mocking glint in her eyes, while Maria remained silent.
I was fed up with this money-driven clan.
"Mr. Shaw, I'm your flesh and blood. Your neglect after my birth allowed someone to snatch me away!"
I observed George's furious expression and proceeded,
"If it weren't for Hannah, we wouldn't be face-to-face right now!"
My breathing was rapid and heavy, causing George to feel slightly uneasy.
"Ruby, regardless, you shouldn't have let your mother accompany you. There are numerous investors and associates present!"
In George's mind, profit always took precedence. He was, after all, a businessman.
I had no desire to emulate such a person.
"I didn't intend for her to join me."
I replied frostily, and Maria's eyes began to glisten with tears.
Had she not visited that place, she would never have understood the conditions in which I once lived.
"Ruby, we apologize. We were mistaken. We shouldn't have acted this way. You're the only child we've wronged."
