Chapter 8

Nicole was abruptly pulled back inside by my visibly irritated mother-in-law.

"Why are you speaking out of turn? Get to your room and focus on your studies!" she reprimanded her.

After confining Nicole to her room, she came back with an apologetic smile. "Camille, please don't take Nicole's words seriously. She's young and doesn't comprehend the situation."

"Huh. Had I known she'd be so unappreciative, I would've never cared for her," I remarked coldly.

"I'll have a word with her and ensure she gives a proper apology! We can't tolerate such behavior towards family," she said worriedly.

"Don't bother. Insincere apologies are meaningless to me," I responded dismissively. "Henry, if you won't sign the divorce papers, we'll have to settle this in court."

As I turned to leave, Henry grasped my arm.

"You've just arrived—where are you off to now?" He asked with a frown.
