"He's already moved on with someone else!" Kate attempted to grasp Bernard's arm. "I'm the only one still here, hoping you'll come back!"
Bernard reacted by swinging his arm, causing Kate to fall to the ground. "Kate, I've told you before, stay away from her! If you don't, I won't be responsible for my actions!"
Kate fled the scene in tears.
Armand, feigning fear and clutching his chest, remarked, "Jane, is that your former spouse? How frightening, it's no wonder you ended the marriage."
His exaggerated behavior made me chuckle involuntarily.
Hearing my laughter, Bernard turned to face me, the harshness in his eyes instantly softening.
"Jane, it's been so long since I've heard you laugh," he said, bowing his head with a sad smile. "After you left, I tried to recall your smile but couldn't. Looking back, we were truly happy together."
I offered a slight smile and responded, "Do you know why memories seem perfect? It's because once they're gone, they can never be relived."
