"Eden!" I shouted, urgency spilling into my voice. "Get behind me!" I stepped in front of him, heart racing as I readied myself to shield him from the encroaching darkness. 


Just as I called up a protective barrier, the sorceress unleashed another wave of dark energy, shattering my defenses like glass. The force sent me tumbling, hitting the ground hard as I fought to regain my balance. 


"Mom!" Eden called, rushing over to me. "Are you okay?" 


I nodded, forcing myself to concentrate. "Stay close, Eden. We have to stick together." 


Fueled by determination, we combined our magic as one. I could feel our bond lending power to our spells, and together, we unleashed a torrent of light to push back the darkness.
