Shu: Slander! This Is Slander!

The second front was the rearmost of the four fronts, facing the least pressure.

Its position was almost entirely enveloped by the other three fronts, with only a long, straight corridor connecting it to the outside world. This corridor also served as the dividing line between the first and second fronts and the third and fourth fronts.

Hence, in frontline terminology, the fronts divided by the corridor were referred to as the Eastern Theater and the Northeastern Theater.

It made things feel much more professional. Most of the people on the front lines had never imagined in their lives that they would one day stand on the very forefront, protecting everyone. And to top it off, their opponents weren't fellow countrymen, but grotesque monsters.

Good treatment, heavy responsibility, and a detestable enemy made for high morale and fighting spirit across the entire front.

Before long, the armored vehicle and the two cargo trucks stopped in front of a large building where numerous sentry robots were stationed.

Though called a large building, compared to the other towering skyscrapers around it, their destination was low and inconspicuous, only about three stories high.

Bianka opened the car door and set foot on the front line for the first time. The surrounding noise was different from the base, with various shouts and calls ringing out from time to time.

This clamor didn't annoy Bianka; instead, it stirred her heart, making her breathing switch to manual mode.

Back at the base, there was mostly polite and respectful greetings, and the cold sounds of machinery and equipment transport made it hard to feel like you were truly "alive."

But here, Bianka felt a warmth even more intense than on the ninth and tenth basement levels.

This warmth was called civilization.

The female warrior with glasses directed the robots to unload the supplies from the vehicles. This time, she was joined by a man and a woman. Judging by their gear, they were specialists at this.

"I'll go to the kitchen and have them prepare dinner for you all," Lu Renjia said, waving at the group before quickly running off, giving Theresa and the others no chance to refuse.

"Sigh, can't be helped..." Theresa sighed. She watched as they moved the weapons to the designated storage area before turning away.

"So this is the front line..." Bianka's curious gaze never ceased. She looked around with every step she took.

Small mechs constantly passing by on fixed routes, armored exoskeletons placed outside the storage area due to their large size, neatly arranged firearms and weapons, and so on...

And the most conspicuous thing in the entire camp area: a flagpole flying the MOTHs' flag.

Even the camp entrance only had two warriors on duty, yet there were no fewer than five people active near this flagpole.

Although it was only because part of the storage area was located at the base of the flagpole.

"Let's get some rest too." Theresa walked over to the flagpole and finally set down the giant cross she had been carrying on her back.

The dull thud of the heavy object hitting the ground made a warrior near the storage area twitch an eyebrow, but he still dutifully recorded the entry and exit of the supplies in his notebook.

[5:32 PM, one "Oath of Judah" deposited into storage.]

They even record this? Everyone on the front line is so meticulous.

Bianka glanced over and was instantly filled with respect.

"The only real rest we'll get is tonight. Tomorrow, we head to the third front. We'll have to pass through a zombie horde on the way. Once we reach the third front, we'll have to take action immediately, so there won't be any time to rest."

Bianka was a little surprised. The Theresa on the front line was like a completely different person from the one at the base. At the base, Theresa exuded an air of laziness, as if she could never get enough rest.

But here on the front line, Theresa suddenly became sharp and incisive, giving off an impression of extreme reliability.

Of course. Senior Theresa must have been holding back at the base. Under such a disguise, it's only natural that she'd seem a bit sleepy.

Theresa: Is it possible that I just genuinely haven't slept enough?

Neither of them knew what the other was thinking, but they all placed their extra armor attachments and weapons in the storage area, moving around in only their lightest armor.

Only on the second front could they relax their guard like this. On the other three high-pressure fronts, everyone ate with their weapons at hand.

However, this differential treatment didn't cause any dissatisfaction. Everyone who came here understood which of the four fronts was the most important.

The second front protected the train station, was responsible for delivering supplies from the base to the other three fronts, and had to ensure the retreat routes for the other three fronts were always clear.

The fall of any other front could be reclaimed by the remaining three, but if the second front were to fall, the entire front line would be isolated and left to fight on its own.

Yes, that's how it was on the second front. Warriors on the high-pressure fronts just had to fight hard and rescue survivors, but the people on the second front had much more to consider...

"It should be a while before dinner is ready. Why don't you, Durandal, and... uh, Maid, take a look around for now. Consider it familiarizing yourselves with the environment," Theresa instructed the two before leaving.

"But aren't we leaving tomorrow..." Bianka muttered under her breath, then decided to follow Theresa's advice and look around some more.

"Perhaps it's because the layout of the four fronts is similar. Getting used to one will help us adapt more quickly to the others," Rita kindly explained to Bianka.

Bianka had a sudden realization and nodded seriously.

But they hadn't taken more than two steps when Bianka suddenly realized something, making her turn her head in confusion.

"Wait, Ri... is your codename '[Maid]'?" Bianka, catching herself just in time, asked in utter shock.

If a codename like [Durandal] was taken from literature, being another name for [Durendal], then why was there a name like [Maid] among the codenames left by Senior Shu?

Could there be a deeper meaning here that she couldn't comprehend?!

Rita just smiled and nodded, not answering Bianka's question.

She was also very surprised. Why would Theresa say that a codename like [Maid], which was obviously tailor-made, was among those left by Lord Shu?

If it wasn't because Lord Shu could see the future, or because Lord Shu's status in Lady Theresa's heart wasn't so sacred as to be inviolable...

Then it could probably only be attributed to some of Lord Shu's unique... preferences.

Of course, Rita believed this was Theresa's fault.
