Julia's Perspective
Darren halted his restless movement and faced them, his jaw clenched tight.
"What's this about?" he growled, his eyes darkening. His inner wolf was emerging, and they needed to act swiftly to prevent a potential attack.
"Her death wasn't due to an overdose; her medication was altered," the lead nurse hastily explained, her voice quivering.
Darren's expression shifted to bewilderment. "Come again?"
The nurse took a deep breath. "After her passing was reported, we examined her remains and the drugs, which initially indicated an overdose. However, we later discovered the results had been switched. Yesterday, we uncovered the original findings, revealing that pure moonfire had been mixed into her medicine, gradually weakening her until it proved fatal."
A hush fell over the room as they absorbed this information.
Darren sank down, his face a mask of emptiness.
