Jasmine's Perspective
I gazed at him in shock, tears streaming down my cheeks. His words made it sound as if I was an obstacle preventing him from being with his true love.
"In that case, just reject me and go be with the one you really want. Don't let me stand in your way," I responded, my voice trembling.
His face softened, and he approached me, enveloping me in a comforting embrace until my tears subsided.
"That's not what I meant at all. I'm so sorry, darling. I shouldn't have turned off my phone or blocked our mate connection. I was mistaken. Please forgive me," he begged.
This was the Liam I knew and had fallen for, but a sense of bitterness welled up inside me, knowing this moment was fleeting. His phone chimed again, and I was certain it was another message from Mira.
I felt him stiffen as he held me, then he pulled away and swiftly unlocked his phone. He glanced up at me with a sigh. "Jas, I really need to go. We'll talk later. If you need anything, just give me a call."
I watched him hurry off without waiting for me to respond. Despite being his mate, Mira took precedence over me. They had been in love years ago, but when Mira found her mate, she ended things with him and moved to her mate's pack in London.
Sleep eluded me as my mind raced with thoughts. I couldn't continue like this; it was clear that Liam prioritized Mira over me. I needed to move forward with my life and provide the best care for our baby.

My eyes snapped open as excruciating pain washed over me. I gasped as a sharp, stabbing sensation tore through my abdomen.
"Liam! Something's wrong with the baby!" I cried out desperately, my voice cracking.
Only silence answered. I turned to where my mate, Liam Hunter, should have been lying beside me on the bed—but the space was empty. He hadn't returned from Mira's place.
Fear gripped me as I finally understood what was happening – Liam was being unfaithful. I had refused to be intimate with him because of my pregnancy, and he had chosen to sleep with another woman instead.
The pain intensified, and I cried out in agony, clutching the sheets as the stabbing sensation grew worse.
"Argh!" I sobbed. Inside, my wolf whimpered at the pain of her mate's betrayal.
My heart raced as I quickly opened our mate link, breathing heavily as the pain worsened. I needed to warn him that his actions were harming our child.
'Liam! Our baby!' I shouted through our mate link, but there was no answer. Liam had blocked the link again.
With great effort, I rolled out of bed, panting as the agony seared through my stomach. My body shook, and my legs gave way, forcing me to drag myself across the floor towards the table where my phone lay, so I could call Liam. I called repeatedly, but he didn't answer, then he turned off his phone.
I gasped as I began to feel something trickling down my legs. It was blood. My heart nearly stopped. No. This couldn't be happening. I thought in horror.
I could feel myself slipping into unconsciousness, and my head spun. I shook my head as I fought to stay awake. Time was running out; I had to act quickly.
'Beta Richard!' I called out desperately through the pack link. 'Bring your car now! It's an emergency! Hurry! I don't have much time!'
'Yes, Luna Jasmine.' He replied with urgency in his tone.
Before I could respond, the darkness engulfed me and I lost consciousness.
'If I lose this child, I'll reject Liam as my mate.' I vowed bitterly to myself, just before the darkness claimed me completely.
